Dr. Mitchel Brion Harris, MD

I just saw Dr. Harris for a four-week follow up for repair for a broken hip. He was great! He showed me the Xrays just taken and also the ones before the surgery and explained how the bone had been put together. He was patient and clear, offered advice to supplement what my physical therapist has been teaching me; his advice was very helpful. I felt comfortable asking him if my repaired side would be shorter than the other, and he showed from the xray that things were almost even. Informative, supportive, and sympathetic, I am glad to have seen him.

No manners,seemed like he didn't care very much and was very discourteous and unhelpful...I highly recommend to avoid seeing this doctor.

Rude and messed my back up

Personality is the least important trait of a surgeon; his mastery of his skill is what matters. I give you a cautionary tale. I had 3 fusions as a teenager for a serious L5 slip in the 90s. The past couple of years I had increasing pain and numbness along with a sagital imbalance. I went to Mr. Harris as the internet claims he is fabulous. I gave him my cat-scan which he was disinterested in and then performed his orders to walk across the room and stand on my toes etc. as I stood back-to to him, he had the audacity to ask if was “being lazy or disinterested”. He said that I live in a pain cycle and needed to change my lifestyle. He said he would consider an MRI. I told him that my hardware was stainless steel and would result in poor quality images with streak artifact. He argued with me about that fact of which I knew 100% what the hardware was made of. I have never been so “blown off” by a surgeon in my life. Perhaps he is great at limb surgeries but if the spine is… too complex he shouldn’t see those patients. I went to New England Baptist and had a myelogram done that showed a complete blockage at L2-L3 with severe stenosis throughout the lumbar spine along with quite a marked sagital plain imbalance. I had 2 twelve hour surgeries to decompress and fuse multiple levels and had an osteotomy performed to correct my sagital plain imbalance. I’ve never felt better in my life. If you suffer from back pain I strongly suggest you seek another surgeon as he seems incompetent with the complex cases.

I read reviews regarding Dr. Harris' 'personality'. If you are expecting hand holding, he's not your guy. If you expect skillful care and a doc who knows his stuff: sign up. I broke my ankle in three places and it required a reduction; working the ankle bone into the socket. His resident did a perfect job and coached me, along with an intern, through a very difficult procedure. Subsequent surgery by Dr Harris went off without a hitch and I am far ahead of where I could be because of his game plan for me. Dr. Harris is quick, thoughtful and thorough. If I wanted to be jollied up, I'd get a tv doc.

He caused significant iatrogenic scoliosis. He did a lumbar fusion and now my entire spine looks like a snake causing spine damage. I wish I would’ve never met this man.

Dr. Harris was recommended to me for a leg injury. The first time I met him was for a minute before my surgery and I found him rude. At every follow up appt, he met with me for two minutes and would try to run out the door like I was an inconvenience or a waste of time. Even if I tried to ask a question he would be half way out the door. I have had some rude doctors but he takes first place. For such a traumatic injury and recovery to go through, I was hoping to find a doctor with a little compassion and bedside manner. I would not recommend him.

I do not recommend Dr. Harris. He performed a one level fusion, L4-5, and made a huge- over 6 inches- incision for that. Surgery resulted in significant iatrogenic (this means caused by surgeon) scoliosis. It was visibly evident immediately after surgery. He's also rude. Everything is the patient's fault. Stay away from him.

Some years ago, Dr. Harris re-organized my spine - which was giving me a lot of pain from stenosis, discs and other issues. I found him to be very friendly, caring and, above all, a highly skilled orthodedic surgeon. He thoroughly explained to my husband and me what would happen and what to expect from the surgery. Now I am back again to his office - this time with trouble in a different area. He took a lot of time determining how to proceed and talking with us about his findings. My husband and I trust his judgement thoroughly and find him to be a very fine physician.
