Dr. Mona Sazgar, MD

Dr. Sazgar is an excellent doctor. She is an EXPERT in treating and CURING epilepsy. I had (HAD!) epilepsy for 19 years. My seizures were controlled by medication. I was taking 4 meds (9 pills a day)!!! Then, I met Dr. Sazgar. She was shocked I was taking so many meds and knew one drug was not good for me because it can cause osteoporosis and, as a woman, that’s not good. Not only did she straighten out the meds, but she ran tests and determined I was a perfect candidate for surgery to cure my epilepsy. I had surgery in Oct 2019 at UC, Irvine, and I have been seizure-free since. If you have epilepsy, I highly recommend you visit Dr. Sazgar at least once. She had a plan in mind for a cure AT MY FIRST VISIT. She is an expert. You owe it to yourself to see her. She is professional and kind. I’m so happy and lucky that I found her. She’s absolutely the best. She treats people of all ages.

My teenage daughter has been so fortunate to be under the care of Dr. Sazgar. In Dr. Sazgar we have found the neurologist we have always looked for: a top epileptologist, competent and knowledgeable, but also warm, kind and with the best bedside manners. Dr. Sazgar truly cares about her patients, and is a wonderfully attentive listener. She doesn't just treat the seizures, she also cares about side effects and the patient's treatment satisfaction. She wants you to be happy as well as seizure free, and she is willing to take the time to look into all options. In addition, she is so responsive. We have been able to email her questions and concerns, and she replies quickly and thoroughly. Her office is efficiently run, with smart and capable support staff. Wait time is minimal, yet she spends as much time as needed during appointments. Both my daughter and I feel relieved that she has found such a wonderful and caring professional who will look after her as she enters adulthood.

Doctor Mona Sazgar has been such a wonderful neurologist. She has always been there for me in my struggle with epilepsy, and in some of my most hardest of times. She has given me wonderful guidance on my medical decisions and had great knowledge all around on epilepsy and what is best for my specific situation. While she is very professional, she also has had a great way about her to be comforting and caring in the most difficult of times. I had very little faith in my last several of neurologists that I had seen over the years since first becoming diagnosed with epilepsy. Since having Doctor Sazgar I feel confident that I am in the best hands and I look forward to where I might be able to progress with her as my neurologist.

Her amazing diagnosis, expertise, professionalism, and determination has downright given me my life back. My out of control temporal lobe seizures left me in a state of despair. Dr. Sazgar led her team in performing state of the art testing to identify the exact portion of my brain that was holding me back from mastering my skill set in computer science. After performing several electroencephalograms and other pre surgical evaluations, she was able to determine exactly where my medical issue was located. She explained to me the details of my issues in verbiage that I could actually comprehend and in the most compassionate way that any doctor could ever hope to do. I felt safe in her hands and so did my family.

She's one of the friendliest doctors I've met and I have had many. She's very knowledgeable in her field and I trust her diagnosis completely.

Dr. Sazgar is so thorough. After 25 years of living with epilepsy, she is the first neurologist to actually address my options, beside just trying another medication. She plans on curing me and in the meantime, making my life more liveable! She is great!

I came to Dr. Sazgar after going to another neurologist who had horrible manners and I was not satisfied so I was seeking someone who would explain things to me and spend time with me during my appointment. I have only had one appointment with her but she was excellent. She asked me several questions about my past history and then went on to explain to me what type of seizures I might have and then came up with a plan for me with several options and what she thought was the best. I spent about an hour with her and got many of my questions answered. She was perfect, and I could see myself with her for a long time!
