Dr. Nitin Khanna, MD

About 15 years ago Dr. Khanna did a cervical fusion on me and I wish I had written a review then, but I didn't. Recently he did another fusion on me as part of a much more involved surgery and this time I'm compelled to write. Along with being a brilliant surgeon, he's also all the things one would expect in a doctor; patient, compassionate, kind, and competently cautious. Here's what makes him stand out above so many doctors and surgeons...he's really human. He cares and approaches patients as people because his own humanity is so clearly present. He really listens, and it appears it's just part of his fabric as a human being--he deeply cares for his patients. My recent surgery was required due to a serious fall. Beyond the E.R. care, other tests were delayed due to insurance approval. By the time I saw him he looked at my MRI and said the injury required immediate surgery. He booked me for the next day! I told him my insurance company would squawk at any non-preapproved procedure--I was really worried. He responded by saying he'd deal with them after the fact, this couldn't wait. Less than 24 hours later I was in surgery. What other doctor would advocate for a patient after the fact and risk the insurance challenges because to him the patient came first? In my 60+ years, only Dr. Khanna has done this. I'm convinced that if he could have avoided surgery in lieu of physical therapy or another avenue he would have. I trust in that completely, which made the rush to surgery all the more remarkable to me; I had no doubts that day it was the only possible path. He doesn't work alone, and I'd be remiss not to mention his remarkable Physician's Assistant Michael, who was every bit as kind and caring as he is, and his coordinating nurse Denise who navigated the insurance headaches, the fast surgical schedule, my meds, visits, etc., with such professionalism and loving compassion that it just overwhelmed me. There were likely others, but this team of three saved me from being a paraplegic; they changed the trajectory of my life. For all this and so many more reasons, this doctor and his team will always be in my heart. I'm forever in their debt--one human to a group of others.

1st thankful to God in all things. After 7 years of injections and 1 operation involving 3 different doctors. I thank almighty God I was introduced to Dr. Nitin Khanna! I was at first optimistic by his words of assurance and confidence he would be able to help relieve the constant pain and tossing and turning getting no sleep just miserable life. Dr. Khanna after looking at my MRI and hearing what I had been through told me Mr. Rios " I am going to get rid of the pain you have been going through." As one can imagine I am your average Joe and I was telling myself I heard this before. Dr. Nitin it's only been 2 weeks since your operation on my lower lumbar back. You have been a man of your word. I saw you yesterday all I can say is the pain is gone! I can't thank you enough in words other than I pray God's amazing grace in your life. He has blessed you with healing hands. I am resting and following your instructions to heal completely. I feel this good after 2 weeks I can only imagine how I am going to feel when I see you next scheduled visit. I recently had my second spinal fusion surgery, Dr. Khanna did not do the first. I was experiencing pain down the backs of both legs, on the front of my right thigh and pain across my lower back. Walking any distance at all was very difficult. I have no back pain at all since the surgery. The recovery period was short and pretty easy. Dr. Khanna explained the procedure very well, and advised me on after care. I admit I did not enjoy wearing the back brace but being cautious is certainly better than another surgery. I would recommend him and his practice to anyone without reservation.

Dr. Khanna has done my Lower Lumber Fusion in 2013 and now my bilateral Sacroiliac Joint Fusions in 2018. He's not only professional and friendly, but he listens and explains in terms you can understand. He definitely knows the spine and all surgeries have been excellent. Scars and recovery times were minimal. I highly recommend him! Gail W

It has been nearly 9 months since Dr. Khanna did a lumbar decompression surgery on me, and I have yet to have even one pre-surgery symptom return. I am so grateful to him---and God!

Mr. Khanna is dedicated to both is job and his patient's. With that said I would not go to any other orthopaedic doctor.

Dr. Khanna is an excellent Dr. I had C6and C7 fused in 2010. The scar left by the surgery on my neck is completely unnoticeable. Recovery time was amazingly short. He is very skilled at his profession and is the most caring and compassionate Dr. I have ever met. My latest appt with him was May of 2018, as I was having problems with pain and was told by another Dr that I should have an MRI and see Dr. Khanna. When I met with Dr. Khanna, he looked at the MRI and assured me that my neck C4 and C5 is fine. I don't need surgery. I trust him 100%. Here in NW Indiana we have an abundance of Orthopaedic Dr to choose from, my first and only choice will always be Dr. Khanna.

After many months & years of PT, chiropractic, shots, exercise, etc. I finally gave into having a spinal fusion. Dr. Khanna did any excellent job and I feel whole again and able to function. He has a wonderful staff with physical therapy and MRI right there. I would highly recommend Dr. Khanna and this facility.

Never again do not go see dr.khanna he's a liar and back stabber. Also has alot of fake reviews on here.

no one likes going to the doctor much less the possibility of having surgery. I have had back pain for over 20 years and finally decided to seek out a specialist . After much research I chose Dr. Khanna, and I honestly can't describe how much this doctor and his staff means to me . I had spinal fusion surgery and the care from beginning to the present is beyond expectation or hope. I am doing wonderfully due mostly to the skill of this doctor , but as he reminds me ' I can't fix you as well as God made you but I will do my best !' which attests to my healing. We must do our part as the patient to continue the healing and strengthening , dr. Khanna has gone above and beyond. I now consider him a wonderful friend as well as a wonderful doctor. Dr. Khanna performed a lower back fusion for me. I had let the condition go for quite a while, and as such I was in pain almost everyday. He listened carefully to my problems and suggested several ways to treat my condition, some of which I tried with mixed results. Eventually we decided on a fusion to solve the problem. I like that the fusion was not the first option, he used a real minimalist approach. It has been a little over a year now and I would have to say that the fusion was successful. I am glad that I went to Dr. Khanna with this problem.

I had had back/hip/buttock pain for five years. I had seen the main Sports Physician/Orthopaedic Specialist for The University of Notre Dame and also the Sports Physician/Orthopaedic Specialist that works for both Marquette University and the professional baseball team The Milwaukee Brewers. Between both of those physicians I had tried several medications, pain shots, months of physical therapy, acupuncture, deep tissue massage, chiropractic care and rest. The second doctor even thought that my issue was my hip and performed an unsuccessful FAI hip impingement surgery and a partial Piriformis Muscle release/Iliotibial (IT) Band "clean-up" all to no avail. My physical therapist couldn't get my SI Joint to stabilize so she suggested I find a doctor that would work on my SI Joint. After doing an internet search I found Dr. Khanna. I presented Dr. Khanna with my "self diagnosis". He took x-rays, did a physical exam and ordered a MRI. After reviewing my MRI Dr. Khanna not only told me but showed me that my problem was a misalignment in my L4/L5 and a disc that had degenerated. I guess a degree to be a doctor is better than you and your physical therapist self diagnosing yourself from internet searches. Dr. Khanna performed surgery five months ago and I have been practically pain free since. Yesterday I worked out in my garden for four hours without any pain!!!! I feel like the clock has been turned back on my life, I can now do things I haven't been able to do in years. Another aspect of Dr. Khanna's office that is absolutely terrific is his nurse, Denise, she is wonderful and reliable. If you leave a message for her she will return your call quickly with the answer to your question ready for you. Dr. Khanna's office staff runs like a fine tune machine. I would recommend Dr. Khanna to anyone with back issues. He finds the solution and fixes it. I am once again the mom and wife I was before back pain consumed my life.

Thoughtful, excellent result from surgery

Me and my spouse have had nothing but exceptional experiences in dealing with Dr Nitin Khanna. He is extremely professional and always has (or should I say makes) time to sincerely listen to any and all concerns of his patience. Dr Khanna has one of the best bedside manners I have ever seen in a doctor. I trust Dr Khanna to refer any and all of my family/friends to this WONDERFUL surgeon.

Dr. Khanna has so much expertise! He really listens and is very good at offering advice and plan of care outside of surgery. His nurse was so sweet, and I got an appointment within the week. I fully recommend this doctor.
