Dr. Norman Bettle, MD

Worst Dr visit I have ever had. Complete detachment from patient. I don’t think he had even looked at my file before doing two different test that were quite painfull. My right foot was half numb from vascular surgery months before and now the whole foot is numb again. They have many other Dr.’s in that Novant neurological center so stay clear of Dr Bettle . Still so very upset with the whole situation

I have been very happy with Dr. Bettle and his staff. Initially, Dr. Bettle was somewhat reserved, but has always been prompt and asks probing questions as to my condition. Overtime, he has become more friendly and open, asking questions about my life. The staff has always been friendly and takes the time to answer all my questions. I can joke with them and get along well.

Nasty office personnel. Rude on the phone. If you want docs to keep referring patients you need to get your ship in order.

This guy misdiagnosed my MS. He gave me multiple spinal MRIs and said I had carpal tunnel. I went to a different neurologist who gave me a spinal tap and a brain MRI. I was finally diagnosed and began treatment. He came in my hospital room before while I was on the phone with a doctor and told me he doesn't have time to wait, because he has things to do. I let him know that I didn't send for him and I didn't want to see him, because he doesn't listen and he misdiagnosed me.

My impression of him is that he is arrogant and he doesn't listen. I've had multiple sclerosis symptoms since 2006. He have me 4 or 5 MRIs back in 2007. He diagnosed me with carpal tunnel inspire have numbness and spasms sown. I was finally diagnosed by DR Shisais back in 2012. He actually listen and took the time to do a lumbar puncture and order a brain MRI. I was finally diagnosed. I am now seeing Anne Taylor in that practice. She is a lot better than the male physicians at Coastal Neurology. The front office is also rude at times. Dr. Bettle visited me with an intern. I was on the phone getting things sorted with the doctor's. He rudely walked in and said, "hurry up. I have rings to do." My response was "I don't want to see you anyways, because you refused to scan my brain and misdiagnosed me." Bad experience with the dude. I getting out of the awful practice. I've had local physicians advise me against the practice after finding out I'm a patient here. Physicians have said,… "Don't go there. Travel to Charleston or Savannah, anywhere else."

I have received wonderful care from DT. Nettle's office. He was respectful of my time by being prompt and even arranged to stay later so he could administer a series of neurological tests rather than having to come back to his office. His knowledge is vast in the area of neurology. I feel fortunate to have him as my specialist. He is a doctor who can be trusted.

I went to see Dr. Bettle as a referral after being diagnosed with Lyme that has crossed the blood brain barrier. I am having a myriad of neuro symptoms and need some further testing like a SPECT or a Pet Scan. Dr. Bettle settled on a MRI but when the insurance company denied the request I asked him to appeal. He would not. I asked him to advocate on my behalf as I am getting sicker. He would not. Finally I said I would find a new doctor and he had his nurse call me and tell me go ahead. SMH horrible service.

This physician gave me multiple MRIs after I was experiencing numbness down one half of my body. He diagnosed me with carpal tunnel...carpal tunnel? Not in my legs, shoulders, and face. That was a waste of alot of money and time. It took a change of neurologist to get the correct diagnosis. Thank God. He even had the nerve to show up in my hospital room and tell me be is busy. I didnt want to see him anyways...that is certainly not good bedside manners.

Dr Bettle took time in my initial visit to actually listen to my ailments and my fears as to what was happening to me. I would definitely recommend him to others and trust his evaluation of my concerns.
