Dr. Oluyemi Adetokunbo Aina, MD

I almost never post reviews but my appointment with Dr. Aina went so poorly that I felt compelled to warn others before they spend their money on his practice. He has a Google profile "Tri-MED Behavioral & Sleep Medicine: Oluyemi Aina, MD" with various poor reviews. I'd made my decision to see him after reading positive feedback on his other Google profile. I'm posting my review on various platforms so hopefully people won't make the same mistake I did. I just got off a call with him after waiting a month to be seen as a new patient. My experience has been extremely disappointing and I'm appalled at how I was treated. For anyone suffering from a complex or frustrating diagnosis, Dr. Aina is a WASTE of time and money and will make you regret opening up to him about your pain. The doctor acted dismissive and rude from the get-go, as if he didn't want to be there. He started the appointment late, then cut me off multiple times after asking me to describe my issues and asked me outright… multiple times why I was seeing him in the first place. I told him I was seeking to transfer care after not seeing progress for years on my condition, having seen several ineffectual psychiatrists and tried upwards of ten medications to no benefit. He essentially accused me of doctor shopping and made me justify why I had switched from each psychiatrist even though he went through my prescription history and could clearly see evidence of me being prescribed inappropriate medications. Note that I did NOT at any point ask for addictive or controlled medications during the appointment. He told me I had no idea what I was talking about regarding my diagnosis and "looking stuff up on the internet is no way similar to having a medical degree", as if I was making things up about my lived experience. Before we were even halfway through the appointment, you could see he'd already washed his hands of me. I was nothing but civil and yet from the beginning it felt like I was on the stand defending myself before a judge. I don't know if this doctor treats every new patient with this attitude-- I don't know if it was because I'm young and a woman or if he just doesn't respect his clientele. It's very unlikely he was unaware how he was coming across. I've seen rude medical providers before but this really takes the cake in terms of outright disregard. The one star on this review goes towards the medical assistant who did my intake, she at least was friendly and treated me like a person.

DO NOT COME HERE! Today I came in and received the absolute worse customer service ever. Upon booking my appointment, no one disclosed that a fee would be due because of a previous missed appointment (which I did not call to schedule myself). I explained to the lady at the front that my insurance was billed for today and she replied, she just bills--she doesn't know anything else. THEN BLANK SILENCE Meanwhile she was on the phone on what I believe was a personal call. I told her I would like to know why I am paying when my insurance was ALSO billed? I do not mind making the payment if my insurance was not billed for the visit--or at least, I am willing to pay the copay only for the missed appointment. BLANK STARE! She did not know anything nor did she EVER OFFER to accommodate me by at least notifying my provider I was there and then discussing after. Or at least noting I could be billed for missed appointment or to provide insurance claim and then it would be considered.… NOTHING!!!!!!!! I will not be coming back if I need to deal with someone who is willing to turn patients away because they do not have the basic training to provide service. I LOVE NJ but this is the worst service ever. I really needed to see my provider today. FURTHERMORE, when I told her "Why don't you all get the billing sorted and call me afterward." As I walked away she LAUGHED!!! I am BEYOND unhappy because I really needed to speak with someone about the performance of my medication.

Front desk people are the rudest unprofessional people I have ever encountered at a drs office I could not believe how poorly they treated me and even more shocked the dr allowed it to esculate to almost a physical fight I was bullied and when I stood up for myself im the crazy one no I didnt start it but I did end it you would think they would have more class!

I like Dr. Aina. I've always felt like he and I communicate well. He is responsive to my needs and listens to me. His nurse on the other hand is a different story. I've had Rx requests faxed to his nurse multiple times on 2 separate occasions requesting a refill. Both times the nurse was unresponsive and I went without my medicine for a time. Up to almost 2 weeks at one point. When I asked the nurse about it she was indignant and said there was a 24-48 turnaround time. Again, I waited 2 weeks. I like Dr. Aina but am considering changing doctors due to the poor support staff at Tri-Med Behavioral & Sleep Medicine.

Went to this dr. after my dr. passed away. Would not take the time to really listen to me at all. Told him that my medication changes have to be done carefully or I could wind up in the hospital. He told me I had to follow his directions. Told his office I would never be back.

Dr. Aina seems to be a very compassionate doctor and also very good in his field. I am very pleased and am going to keep going. I would highly recommend him.

He was rude and arrogant and acted as if he did not really want to be bothered. He only wanted to put me on medication without actually getting to know me (I spent about 15 minutes with him) so I don't understand how he could make an accurate diagnosis. I went twice and I would not recommend Dr. Aina to anyone.

Insurance required a visit with this Dr for weight loss surgery for psych eval and sleep study. I had to wait for 4 weeks, countless phone calls to his office, countless excuses as to why the home sleep study was not in process yet, no communication unless I called, and the office knew I was on a deadline for surgery. A month later I requested a different doctor who sent me home with the machine for a home sleep study the same day!!! Would not recommend this office especially for sleep studies. Missed my deadline now I have to be put off for longer. Not happy at all!!

Dr. Aina is one of the best doctors I've ever had. He truly does care about his patients and is very knowledgable. I would recommend him to anyone who wants a doctor who knows a lot about his profession and also is always learning about new things that are available. And just as important, he has heart.
