Peter F Sharkey

I was suffering with hip pain and went to another practice in April. They diagnosed me with bone on bone and needed a right hip replacement. I was given numerous Rx's but nothing worked. Dr. Peter Sharkey was recommended by my Neighborhood Organization. I read his reviews and was very impressed. I made an appointment and saw Ms. Barbara Bowen on May 29, 2026. I was in so much pain that I was in tears and she said you don't need me, you need the Dr. It just so happened that Dr. Peter Sharkey was in the office that day. He came in with my x-rays and confirmed that I needed a hip replacement and that he was going to fix me up. He started the pre-admission paperwork that day. I had my surgery on June 23, 2026 and when I woke up from surgery, I had no pain. I didn't even need any pain medication. I was very relieved and happy because I went through a lot of pain since April. I never thought that I would be able to move around again without pain. I went from using a walker to a… cane to walking normal again. I even went back to work and is now driving a car again. If ever you need a hip replacement, Dr. Peter Sharkey is your man. Had surgery on my left hip almost 2 years ago. He seemed like a nice wonderful caring individual. After surgery, I continued to have pain in the left hip postoperative initial exam six weeks later after that went back again and again and again and again first they did blood test for Inflammation negative then they did an MRI showed tendinosis. He kept telling me that his surgery was perfect and if I didn’t believe him to go to another surgery, this is after five visits my last one of which I just told him exactly what I thought of him. I got my second opinion, which showed that I have a tendon which is torn in my left hip. If that had been diagnosed a year ago even I would be through it and fine now I am looking at possible surgery. It hurts still. I am so upset and mad. Do not go to this manUnfortunately, he told me he would get the appointment for me which he did not so I made my own and it takes months to get an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon, and it took months to get an… appointment with specialized radiology to do the ultrasound which showed the tear.

Very good with explaining things. Takes time and listens.

Simply the absolute best. He did my bilateral total knee replacement in 2015 when I was 65 and everything has been perfect. I recently fell and banged up my right knee pretty badly. I went to see him and in his customary, comforting bedside manner he explained that my knee was OK except for a bone bruise which would resolve with steroids and therapy. Dr. Sharkey also did my wife’s knees and hips replacements, and she has been fine.

I had my 6 Mos. Post op check up after knee replacement. Dr. Sharkey and his team were excellent. Attentive to my needs as a patient. Would definitely recommend him as a surgeon.

My hip replacement went perfect easier than I expected. Dr Sharkey was the perfect doctor for the job. If I have to do it again he would be the only one to do it.

Dr. Sharkey was very helpful, listens to you as a patient and is thorough diagnosing the issue. He had his nurse make a follow up appointment for me to see a specialIst before I left the office. Would highly recommend.

Dr Sharkey and his staff were very professional and took the time to listen to what I had to say, then processed to tell me the next required steps that I needed to follow so I could be on my way to a healthier condition. He explained to me in terms that I could understand. The staff was very helpful in setting me up with the next series of test that was needed for me to continue forward with my progress

I can’t say enough good things about Dr Sharkey,a 5 star surgeon with excellent bed side manor. He is like a friend and doctor all rolled into one, I’m very lucky to have him taking care of me.

Dr. S Harley has operated on both my knees with replacements, 5 years apart. I had to have a revision surgery on one and a manipulation on the other due to excess scar tissue that my body produces. Dr ,. Sharkey is thorough, compassionate and a master skilled surgeon. Excellence all around!!
