Dr Phil M. Lugo, MD

Have been seeing Dr Lugo for over ten years and hoping he never retires. He is considerate and informed. He involves you in planning your treatment. The office staff is professional and efficient without making you feel rushed. Lab on premises helps too as well as an urgent care in the same building. He never has an issue referring you to a specialist if indicated.

He is a kind and knowledgeable doctor who takes the time to explain what kind of treatment and what he is going to do for you. I have had several doctors in the Sacramento, Folsom, Citrus Heights, Roseville areas and he is by far the best.

Dr. Lugo is very thorough and is concerned about his patients. Overall a great experience with him at each appointment.

I have only seen Dr. Lugo once so far but was so impressed that I felt compelled to go ahead and write a review now. He is by far the most compassionate and personable doctor I have ever met with. He truly listened to me and made me feel like we were collaborating on what the best plan of treatment for me would be. He asked a lot of questions, not just about my physical condition but also about what was going on in my life. He made excellent suggestions and I felt very comfortable talking with him and trusted his judgment 100%. So many doctors just seem to be interested in treating your symptoms and getting you in and out of your office. I feel Dr. Lugo has a more "wholistic" approach to medicine and he seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me and building a relationship with me which is quite refreshing. He's already asked me to schedule a follow up with him in a few weeks to discuss test results, how the medication is working, and to give him an opportunity to do a more… thorough physical and go over family history more in depth (since their computers were down during our visit). I just don't know of many doctors out there who are as thorough as him and I am just thrilled to have found him. So far, I think he is a keeper! I would like to add that his office staff was also so very courteous and professional. Their computers were down throughout the entire office and it had people understandably frazzled but everyone remained calm and composed and very friendly. And the lab was very quick in getting me back to see the phlebotomist who, by the way, was great. She was very nice and I barely felt the needle when she drew my blood. Great Doctor, great Staff, great Facility!

My family and I have known Dr Lugo as our Family Practioner now for over 7 years, and I have nothing but good things to say about Dr Lugo. Dr Lugo has gone out of his way to help me personally where I have always been able to reach him regardless of day or time, and he has always treated me with respect and dignity. My wife and I would recommend Dr Lugo whole heartedly, however please do not flock to his practice as it would take me longer to get an appointment !!

I have had serious medical issues all my life, since birth...so I've seen a lot of dotors and doctor Lugo easily rates in the top 2%!! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I have had the same issues with getting to see him on the same day. It seems they used to have some "same-day appts" set aside. so if you called early in the am you could get in-but this system seems to have stopped. Anyway, why is he so good? COMMUNICATION! He LISTENS to you, usually without interupting or rushing you-and makes sure he understands your needs before taking action or moving on.PERSONALISED SERVICE-NOT CHECK THE BOX SERVICE!! He almost always has a wait-one time I was taking quite a bit of his time, when he was already behind-I commented that I should hurry and he said "aw, let them wait" It made me feel like I was his favorite-or only patient-although of course I know he would have said that to any patient he was with, and I'M the one who would have been waiting!DEDICATION FROM A… CARING HEART! One time he came in on a weekend to give me shots so that I wouldn't have to go in the hospital to get treatment! NOW, this was an extremely serious situation-I was going off the next week to Johns Hopkins for a very complicated 12 hour surgery surgery-so it was very important for me to get the right treatment-I don't want to start a rumor (or set expectations) that he comes in on weekends! trustworthy & ALWAYS TRIES TO DO WHAT' BEST! There have been some touchy issues that we've had to work through-and through all of it, I knew I could trust him to do/recommend what is truly best for me-rather thatn what's easy or profitable for him or sutter. WHOLISTIC APPROACH: He often brings up or inquires about extenuating circumstances, such as stress at home, work, etc. ...asks about family issues, safety, etc at physicals. He knows (AND CARES) aout you as a whole-not just a bunch of test results.HE IS CONNECTED TO GOD! I don't know if most care about this, but to me it what give's him a servant's heart-he doesn't have the doctor's ego issue (He KNOWS we're not in control and he can't fix everythng...but with God's help, everything is ok!)Sorry for the long review, but I want everyone to know he is wonderful-the only downside is getting to see him whie you are actually sick!! That's not his fault, though. I think that's more a function of Sutter pushing to many patients on him. It must be hard to be such a fine doctor and to work within the beuracracy of Sutter-not being able to give as much as he would like to each patient. He give's so much-but you can tel; it's not enough for him! This review is my way of saying thank you, Dr. Lugo!

I went to see Doctor Phil office for general flu condition, I was put to be seen by asstt physician. Part of the flu diagnosis (typical body ache and throat condition - nothing serious). Doctor recommened to do ear cleaning. The whole consultation from doctor was for 5-10 mins, nothing serious sickness. When I got a bill it was 477$. I was amazed and upset... Details of bill - doctor visit $305 (for normal flu visit, even specialist does not charge that much), ear cleaning ($172.00) by a nurse for one ear which you can do yourself for less than 10$. I called office multiple times, no response. Everytime I speak to front desk they give different response. It seems they set you up and rip you off on bill once you visit..I would highly recommed to do your due diligence before you visit this office!!!

- Great bedside manner- Always takes the amount of time required to answer all of your questions; I suspect this is why the wait is sometimes longer than normal.- Always gives referrals if needed- I can ususally get a same day appt if I call and explain my situation and treat the staff on the phone nicely- I have had sutter for my entire life in many different cities and many different primary care Dr.s and Dr. Lugo is one of the best out there, feel lucky if he is accepting new patients and you are one of them.

Dr. Lugo is good. But the staffs are terrible and very poor service. They are extremly rigid and they won't give same day appointment even when you say that you are suffering. Rarely, if you get an appointment, it will always be with nurse practioner. They won't let you see the doctor even if you request for it. Sutter Sucks!!!

He is a great Doctor and does not rush through your visit. If you need a referal he is prompt with giving it to you. He is a great doctor.
