Dr. Richard Joseph Provenzano, MD

I had a very good experience with cataract surgery. Dr. Provenzano called me later that day, after hours, to see how my eye was doing. He takes time to answer questions. His surgical staff were calm and reassuring.

I made an appointment with Dr. Provenzano for a second opinion, as the doctor in Pittsfield, MA told me that I needed cataract surgery. I saw no change in my vision. Dr. Provenzano's office staff is friendly and efficient, and the wait time is less than fifteen minutes, unlike the Pittsfield office. The techs who do the testing, prior to seeing the doctor are, equally pleasant and efficient and will explain the procedures that are being done. When I met the doctor I was impressed with his friendly, kind manner as he, too, examined my eyes thoroughly. He concurred, with me, that at the time, no surgery was necessary. I saw him on an every six month basis to ascertain if my condition had changed and to evaluate a high eye pressure, as my grandmother became blind due to glaucoma. Everything remained stable for over seven years, when I did require cataract surgery which was done by Dr. Provenzano at the Adams facility. This facility is staffed with knowledgeable, compassionate RNs and… CRNAs (certified registered nurse anesthetists) to administer the sedative given prior to surgery. I had surgery on one eye one day and three weeks later the second eye was operated upon, and in each case a new lens was implanted. I now was diagnosed with age related macular degeneration (AMD) and am on a medication, ordered by Dr. Provenzno, to slow the progress of the AMD. Dr. Provezano is professional, without arrogance and compassionate in dealing with his patients, especially those of us who are elderly and in fear of losing our sight.
