An ophthalmologist has the training to do much more than just prescribe glasses. They are physicians specially trained to diagnose and treat disorders of the eyes and vision. These doctors are experts on the complicated anatomy of the eye and are trained to treat eye diseases through both medical and surgical methods.
Some common conditions that ophthalmologists treat are cataracts, glaucoma, strabismus, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and amblyopia. In addition, ophthalmologists can provide prescriptions for eye glasses and contact lenses and perform LASIK surgery and other corrective surgeries for refractive errors like myopia (near-sightedness), hyperopia (far-sightedness), astigmatism and presbyopia.
A neurologist is a physician who diagnoses and treats disorders of the nervous system which is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. These doctors do not perform surgery, but refer patients to neurological surgeons when they determine that surgical intervention is necessary.
Some of the conditions that neurologists diagnose and treat are epilepsy, aneurysms, hydrocephalus, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal disc herniation, and spinal disease.
In addition to using diagnostic tests like MRI, CT scans, EEG and EMG, neurologists also employ neurological testing to gauge muscle strength and movement, balance, reflexes, sensation, memory, speech, and other cognitive abilities.

awful awful awful. He is extremely arrogant and horrible at his job. He should have his medical license taken away. He will diagnosis you with a psychological condition and not even look into your symptoms, even though he has zero ability to diagnosis anyone with a mental health issue. He is lazy and clearly taking advantage of people. Do not trust him because you will get ZERO help.
The experiences you hear are real. I didn't look at the reviews, until after I came home. He was very rude, short, and condescending in everything he said. He did a visual field test on me and he measured by hand written what his findings were. I am 100% sure it was incorrect because I was at Casey prior. I love Casey and wasn't leaving I was just trying to get an earlier appointment. It has been an awful experience with Robert Egan. AWFUL. At the end of the appointment he asked if I knew with the DSM5 was, I replied saying, "yes, I am a social worker". He then said that I should have known what was going on with me as the answer is in the DSM5. I was shocked. As my appointment was ending, he made sure to give me the chapter of a book he has written, all about this "psychogenic" issue. Oh...one more thing. He chewed gum the whole time like a cow...VERY VERY loud. It was just not a good experience.
This was one of the worst experiences with a doctor I have had. My husband and I went together and I have to say I wish I had read the reviews on here first:( They were like reading my own thoughts. He is cold, doesn't listen all the way, interrupts, made me feel uncomfortable to even answer, very short and rude about what I did say for answers, doesn't pay attention to chart notes, Did a quick eye and coordination exam and then says I have depression. I went in with Dizziness, vision issues, severe memory issues, passing out episodes, numbness and tingling, face drooping episodes, and he says all that is caused by depression. I tell him the only things I am unhappy about in my life is physically feeling so terrible and try to discuss with him but he just wouldn't listen. If you read all the other 1 and 2 star reviews it was exactly how my husband and I felt. I am just frustrated we wasted time and money for this:(
I can only rate this doctor's staff in Napa. My wife was a patient of Dr. Egan, but I dealt with paying the bills. The bookkeeping staff could not maintain an accurate set of accounts if they had too. Co-pays were never booked to the proper appointment which meant that after every visit we got a notice that the co-pay had not been paid. The problem is that it had. When that problem was fixed it was claimed that it was REALLY a prior co-pay that wasn't paid. I finally met with the woman who claimed to be the "head of bookkeeping". RUDE!!! Rude to the point that my wife and I will NEVER darken the doorway of the eye clinic in Napa again. I paid the co-pay they claimed was not paid ($20.00) and got receipts and statements showing I owe them nothing more. For $20.00 they lost a patient and bought bad press for life. Works for me.
