Dr. Robert Holden Gottlieb, MD

This was a few years back, I saw these other comments and had to share my own experience. I’ve seen LOTS of obgyns and pelvic physical therapists and urologists (men and female). I’ve honestly always loved everyone who I’ve seen. I have a terrible history with Utis and yeast infections so sometimes I do not have a choice in who I see because it’s a emergency and I need the next available doctor. I had symptoms of a yeast infection which I normally would get after taking antibiotics for my Utis I so frequently got. When I met with him immediately he completely dismissed that there was anything wrong with me just by taking a l look at the area. He told me that, he knows a yeast infection looks like, and that didn’t look like one at all and explained what they do look like to me. I told him I was prone to yeast infections and Utis so I know the feeling and I’ve tried over the counter in the past but it doesn’t work and that I normally need a prescription strength. He told me was certain… it wasn’t and was acting as if I was dumb and didn’t know what I was talking about, totally ignoring all my concerns and what I was saying. He took a look again and did a uncomfortable and long pelvic exam for what I told him once again was a yeast infection. This I found very strange considering I get these tests done all the time, and they normally consist of taking a swab of the area and sending it to the lab. After basically telling him I wasn’t going to leave unless I got the swab test done he finally then did it and low and behold the results came back that day as positive. I will never go back to him. He made me feel stupid and uncomfortable and was not personable at all. Rude and and has no empathy.

He is the rudest doctor I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I went in with extreme cramping and saw him as he was the only Gynecologist available that day. I've always known I've had PCOS and I had the Mirena IUD for about 4 years at the time, so I wanted it taken out, but I wanted my cramping to be addressed as well. He rushed the appointment like no other, evaded my questions and concerns by saying comments like "You're just extra crampy this month" or "Just because you had PCOS in the past, doesn't mean you have it anymore". The prcedure to remove my IUD was extremely fast and painful, he didn't give me a warning when he went to pull out just did it and caught me off guard and it hurt a lot and laughed when I told him he should have given me warning. Then left the room without a word and I never spoke to him again. I had many more questions that had to be answered by the nurse, because he didn't bother to come back and give me any follow up information after my IUD was… removed. (all together, I saw him for about 10 minutes)

I recently had an appt with Dr. Gottlieb. I am a young woman with a series of problems; Dr. Gottlieb dismissed my pain and made me feel horrible. When I told him I had pain during sex, he told me to consider not having sex anymore, saying that it could just go away. He also said it might be psychological and there was no use looking for answers/seeing specialists. I have never met a doctor so unwilling to help me and have never felt so defeated after an appointment. He also made comments about my weight during the appointment. I assume he can do basic procedures, but if you come in having pain, prepare to be dismissed and invalidated. I do not mean to be rude, but I want other potential patients to be prepared.

After showing signs of a gynecological issue, and calling on a weekend, Dr Gottlieb returned my call. He listened to what was going on, asked his own questions, then explained the the next steps. He told me to call the office Monday, and he would leave notes, for the staff. I felt more at ease after speaking with him. When I called the office they were able to look at his notes, and know what to schedule for me, without having to go through it all again. My first meeting with Dr. Gottlieb, I was quite impressed, he explained everything that was going on from my test, and the next step they would be doing. He made me feel very at ease, explained everything so I could understand, and made me feel comfortable and put my mind at ease. I felt he gave me all the time I needed and was not rushed. My appointment was on time, and he explained what I would experience post procedure. I would definitely recommend Dr. Gottlieb to my daughters, family and friends.

Today he was an hour behind schedule. The staff up front was nice enough to let us know. This was my first appointment with him and he did feel rushed, unfortunately. The computer system was switching over so some major details about my file were unknown to him (so I am glad I brought them up!). He seems nice but hopefully the next appointment I have lined up already will go smoother.

Been my Doctor for more than 20 years and I wish all Docs were as kind and thorough and as effecient as Doctor Gottlieb!

Worst experience I have ever had with an OB! I asked to be removed from his care, SMG could not accomplish this. I asked to have my records transferred to a new DOctor, they want to charge me $25...

I switched to Dr. Gottlieb for my 2nd pregnancy last year, he delivered my daughter at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was great through out my whole pregnancy and I felt very much at ease with him as my doctor. The nurses at Southboro-Medical in Framingham were all fantastic.

He delivered my 2 boys at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham back in 2005 and 2007.

I had Dr. Gottlied with my last pregnancy this was the first time I had a male Dr..he made me feel so comfortable and you could tell he was very involved with your health..I would recommend him to all my friends..He gets 5 stars from me!!!
