Dr. Robert Thomas Ferraro, MD

I recently had my first appointment with Dr. Ferraro, and I was genuinely impressed. He took the time to listen carefully, explain things clearly, and make sure I understood my options. He was patient, thorough, and genuinely engaged in the conversation. I left feeling informed, respected, and confident in the plan we discussed. I know online reviews can vary, but my personal experience was excellent. I’m very glad I chose him and look forward to continuing my care with him.

Rude didn’t even examine me and told me I didn’t have Hashimoto’s. Told me too take one additional levothyroxine weekly. Returned to my primary care physician and she said that was not going to help period. Didn’t care was pointless and waste of my time.

Horrible

I was referred by my primary physician due to further issues with my thyroid condition. I was berated and made fun of to my face regarding my concerns or issues. When asked questions about my condition or areas of issue I was spoken over with snarky condescending remarks. I have seen many doctors, but have never experienced this in all my life. Please do not waste your money and time on this individual.

I read all of the negative reviews about Robert Ferraro and against my better judgement I decided to keep my appointment. I quickly learned, within 1 minute of sitting down, that I had made a bad decision. When I told him what my chief complaints were and why I was referred to his office (Hashimoto's), he immediately told me I was not feeling bad due to the above diagnosis, it was because, "of my life, and life choices". Keep in mind this man had not asked me anything about my life and has no idea in what manner I conduct my life so I was completely caught off guard that he would say such a thing. Its not often that anyone treats me with such disrespect, much less someone who I went to in hopes of offering me solutions. I am still floored at his behavior. I strongly believe that he has some type personality disorder and I truly hope that he seeks help.

He was the rudest Dr. I have ever seen. He was arrogant, condescending, and didn't listen to me. He said my only problem was that I was obese. He made me cry.

Dr. Ferraro is currently my Endocrinologist. He takes time to listen to my questions and concerns and is prompt in submitting required paperwork to my insurance for justifications and medication. I can discuss issues that I have researched.

Awful, just awful. Rude, condescending, and even that would be ok if he actually gave good medical care. At my last visit he was over 1.5 hrs late. When he came in he didn't let me get a word in and just said "Everythings ok. Good, well here's a renewal of your Rx...." when everything was NOT ok. When I interrupted to tell him my symptoms he was clearly annoyed that he would have to spend anymore time on me than necessary. He said fine and wrote me a new Rx, without having done any blood work. I got MUCH worse on the new Rx and when I went for a 2nd opinion and they ran my blood work, they were shocked how horrible my levels were because of the meds he prescribed. He's lucky nothing worse happened and I'm not the suing kind.

Save yourself the trouble, and go find another Doctor who cares. Dr. Ferraro is only interested in selling weight loss candy.

Sadly, in New Mexico, we are seriously short of both primary care physicians and specialists. Then of course we have to find a doc who will take our insurance AND who accepts new patients. That's not an easy thing. What the means is that frequently we are stuck with providers with whom we are not happy. That's how I feel about Dr. Ferraro. Initially, I appreciated his 'to the point' attitude. But with each subsequent visit, I felt dismissed. He rarely talks TO me and mostly talks AT me. He's condescending and conveys the attitude that I'm wasting his time. Clearly the bulk of his focus is on his weight loss products that he pushes. Last time I was there, they were all around the office. Signs and samples everywhere. Perhaps he should quit this whole medicine thing and sell Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem door to door. I used to complain about the message it sent to have a cash register sitting right on their counter. It appears they've finally moved that (to below the… counter) . I'm sure there's far more money to be made in taking advantage of fat people by getting them to buy that horrid food than there is in taking care of post-cancer patients like me. And if I had the option of seeing someone else, I would. But... such is the state of medicine in New Mexico. You're stuck with doctors you don't like.
