Approximately eight weeks ago, I visited Mt Sinai’s ER at South Nassau for an upper GI issue, after a few hours of testing, 3 arteries were found to be blocked, as well as the GI issue. No cardio symptoms, no chest pains nor shortness of breath, even after the 2 big snow storms that required much shoveling and snow blowing. The hospital transported me to Mt Sinai in Manhattan, where they perform artery bypass surgeries. By the grace of God, I was referred to Dr. Varghese as my surgeon. He’s not just an excellent surgeon, but his calming demeanor, ability to explain the surgery in layman’s terms, and his availability is outstanding. His team is top shelf, doubt you’ll find any better, his nurse practitioner, Richard, still calls me to make sure that all is good. Now that my incisions are healed, and all is well, I’m pretty much done with visits to Dr. Varghese, his last words to me were “you’ll always be my patient, never hesitate to call me if any questions”. What a class act!! In… addition, kudos to the entire staff at Mt Saini, nurses were amazing, especially Gabriella, who pushes you to walk. The GI staff was fun and great, made you feel comfortable, and Naomi, taking vitals every 4 hours, but you rarely felt the needles going in. Thank you all!

I underwent an arterial double coronary bypass surgery and cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care I received from Dr. Varghese and his outstanding support team. I am 48 years old and was on vacation, had some chest pains and ended up in the Mount Sinai south Nassau hospital. I was transferred to the main Mount Sinai hospital in NYC because I needed open heart surgery. I was introduced to Dr. Varghese as he was going to perform coronary bypass surgery on me. I have never had surgery or been admitted to a hospital before this. This was very scary for me and my family however Dr. Varghese and his team took that fear away and replaced it with hope and confidence. This man took the time to relate with me on a personal level, explained every step, and answered all of our questions.. The care he and his team gave was top notch. Dr. Varghese is a special man, I am truly grateful. The care I received during this experience was exceptional from the whole team. Attending Dr. Eric Sun came by my room and checked on me every morning and every evening, Charge Nurse Leones, Lorraine, Marissa all in the ICU, these RN's showed me exceptional care and went… above and beyond, Samantha (PA on 7 west) took the time to come introduce herself before surgery and explained the process and time line of events. Once I was on 7 West I noticed Samantha stopped at every bed and spoke to each patient, thank you. Marissa (PA on 7 west) made me feel like family, her experience and knowledge shows in her actions. Ian (RN on 7 west) again a amazing nurse who went above and beyond. Richard Kim (NP) again a true professional in his field, Richard came to my room to give me some information on the care and process after I was discharged and since my wife was not there he came back the next day when she was, we have spoken since I left NY and it is always a pleasure. Every one of them, and more I am unable to remember, are all such special people who cared and helped me through this process. A world class team I was fortunate to have care for me. I am now three weeks and four days out of surgery and feel great. I am walking 3 to 4 miles a day without those dreaded chest pains I had before. I will be able to be part of my family for many more years and see my son grow up. This is a review and a way to show my gratitude to Dr. Varghese and his amazing team.

Dr. Robin Varghese is a thoracic surgeon in New York. Director of Cardiovascular Critical Care Mount Sinai Health System. My name is Tom Sarosy. I just underwent a coronary artery bypass surgery. I’ve discovered that Dr. Robin Varghese was the best. How can I explain his reputation among his peers and associates. I will try . . . . .. . . . . that his confidence level, personal touch, compassion and kindness all add to necessary expertise and methodology of a heart surgeon. Here is my story . . . . . . . my rating of the man and the doctor Feeling weak, a trip to the ER securing the services of Dr, Smyrlis, an interventional Cardiologist and with luck to be forwarded to and accepted by Dr. Robin Varghese, a life saving thoracic surgeon in my particular case. It was determined that I had a significant blockage just past my Aorta necessitating the dreaded “Open-Heart” surgical procedure. The only specialist considered here was Dr. Robin Varghese. He is an acclaimed surgeon… and doctor. He had an exceptional reputation in his own community. I did not know him nor know about him. I discovered quickly that I hit the jackpot with having Dr. Varghese as my emergency caretaker. Every hospital staff member had the same dynamic opinion that I was in the “best hands” both technically and personally. I immediately gained confidence in the man and the doctor after meeting him for the first time. He explained the procedure and proclaimed his confidence with a wide touch of concern and caring. I personally only cared about getting better but Dr. Varghese’s approach to patient sharing and kindness and preparation made the whole thing alright. Follow-up post-op was just as professional. I personally did not have unusual pain and was up and about in a very short time. I was always monitored by the hospital staff as well as Dr. Varghese’s own staff. Each doctor and coordinator contributed to the success of the operation and the success of the patient’s mental adjustments which were many and scary. Visits by the doctor himself brought relief to me. There were post discharge visits with Dr. V. in conjunction with my cardiologist. This coordination was important to for my future health planning. Dr. V. also is associated with a Cardiac Rehabilitation Program which he recommends for his favorite patients. I can personally attest to its positive contribution to wellness. Dr. Kaufman, partner in crime, Dr. Wheeler, resident to Dr. Varghese and NP Richard were all valuable pieces of the physical and mental successes of my emergency. Amanda was the power and super coordinator behind the scenes. We all know an Amanda, we all need an Amanda in these nervous times. Kaufman, Wheeler, Richard and Amanda were all great. I have recovered fully. I am feeling great and I am grateful to Dr. Robin Varghese for his attitude, approach, knowledge, professionalism and friendship. I only wish that he was also an Orthopedic back surgeon to fix up the other part of my body.

My husband had a heart attack and was taken to Mount Sinai/South Nassau. We were referred to Dr. Robin.Varghese for open heart surgery. I did not know him before this. When I met him at the hospital in Manhattan, I was impressed with his bedside manner. After a long discussion of what was needed for my husband, I realize the compassion that he had. After the surgery, he continued to each day to have discussions with me. He has a wonderful team that he works with Dr. Kaufman, Richard Kim NP.. I couldn’t have been in better hands.

Dr. Varghese was incredibly empathetic and patient with us. He was kind enough to listen to all our concerns, never interjecting, and offering sound solutions. I am so grateful he was willing to talk to us, it was comforting and God-sent. God bless Dr. Varghese.

It has been one month since Dr. Varghese and his team performed quadruple coronary artery bypass surgery and I feel great! Words cannot begin to express my thanks and gratitude to be lucky enough to have had Dr. Varghese and his team perform the surgical procedures that literally will help extend my life. The surgery has given me a new beginning and the recovery has truly been amazing to date. Dr. Varghese is clearly an extraordinary doctor and, in addition, from everything I learned and experienced, an extraordinary human being. This was evident through his ability to listen, explain, offer great care and comfort and display such a positive attitude each time we met. It certainly made me very confident and confirmed that I had the right surgical team. It’s an unbelievable feeling to be just an ordinary person but to be treated and cared for as if I was the most important person in the hospital! I’d be remiss if I did not mention his team and the nurses that helped me through… this process and made it such a positive experience. Everyone was extremely helpful, professional, caring and had a lot of patience. The daily and often several times a day interactions were reassuring and the open communication was very much appreciated by my wife and me. One final comment...it was refreshing and inspiring to see both Dr. Varghese and Dr. Hollinger work with the younger doctors and other members of the team. I truly admire the dedication they both have toward their work. The willingness to teach and explain on the job was clearly evident and reinforced in me what great doctors they both are....hopefully the Administration at Mount Sinai knows how lucky they are as well!

2 minutes ago I don't even know where to begin Dr.Robin Vargese is a god sent I'm so grateful that God chose this doctor by chance .My dad went in on Thursday 17th for a simple procedure and turns out they kept him right away he was a walking time bomb and unaware ,he had 2 major arteries fully clogged and the third was 99% blocked.They transfered him to Mt Sinai in Manhattan and scheduled surgery right away.Dr.Vargese called us and explained every detail of the surgery to us and the risks that were involved he also told us a little about himself and his background, I did my own research and seen alot good reviews about him and for some reason I just put my faith and trust in him.On the day of surgery he explained that it would be approximately 5 to 6 hours but it turned out to be longer because they found a fourth artery that was also fully blocked so they took care of that as well,he came out after almost 8 hours of surgery and told us all went well and was successful it was such a… relieved and I cried tears of joy and I'm like doc can I shake your hands and he was like "give me a hug" this doctor is not just about his profession but sympathetic and is all about family. I would put my life in his and gods hands .God is great

I was referred to Dr. Varghese+ by Dr. Smyrlis of Mt. Sinai - So. Nassau Communities Hospital after an emergency Angiogram. Dr. Smyrlis told me he was sending me over to Mt. Sinai NYC for examination by Dr. Varghese and his expert team. From the minute I entered the Cardiac ICU at Mt. Sinai NYC I felt that I was the only patient there. The amount of personal, caring and expert attention by the staff was unsurpassed. Upon meeting Dr. Varghese, the experience only improved. Every sttep of the way, he described in detailed, layman's terms what was happending and what the alternatives were. Dr. Varghese also made me feel that I was his only patient..... his bedside manner and his interaction with me, as well as my family, made us feel that I was in the best of hands and, most importantly, safe. Dr. Varghese and his team monitored my status before rushing me into anything and I was confident that he had made the right decision when he performed Coronary Bypass Surgery.
