Dr. Ronnie Jay Barrier

My mother was a patient of Dr. Barrier. My mother had always been thin. My mother needed B-12 injections monthly. She was weighed regularly during these visits. Slowly she began to lose weight. Dr. Barrier's recommendation eat more ice cream. After losing even more weight my mom became too weak to walk. The doctor's at the ER diagnosed her with pancreatic cancer. I was a patient of doctor Barrier's as well. First I had a mole that looked suspicious. Dr. Barrier looked it and he said it was nothing to worry about. I took my sister to the ER to have her examined. Before the doctor looked at my sister the doctor commented to me. "Have you had that mole looked at? I said yes, it's nothing. The doctor responded by saying "you need a second opinion." I contacted a mole specialist who said I needed to see my PC doctor first and get a referral. I called to get a referral and I was told the doctor had no record of ever looking at my mole in the first place. I had to come in a second time and… pay a second time in order to get the referral. I came in for a physical and the P.A. said you have high blood pressure. I said I was told I had "white coat syndrome" and that accounted for the high BP. She said we will diagnose you with high BP if you come in three times with a high BP. You've been in here four times with a high BP. I said, I've only been told a few times in my 27 years of seeing Dr. Barrier what my blood pressure was in the first place. Even the few times I was told what my BP was I wasn't told it was high. I was diagnosed as a type two diabetic. The doctor did some blood work and simply said you're a diabetic. He wrote a couple of scripts and said to check with insurance to find the best place to find supplies, that's it. I wasn't told what my blood sugar level should be or anything. I ask the pharmacist what my blood sugar should be and he said your doctor should have explained that to you! Going back to my high BP. I was told to check my BP daily and call with my week's readings. I was told if my BP was high to call that day and not wait until the end of the week. I never got a call from the office on the days I called with a high BP. When I would meet monthly with Dr. Barrier he never mentioned the days I called in with a high BP. He never discussed my weekly call ins' either. If I've been told to be sure and call that day with the high BP reading I would expect a quick response back about what to do about it or at least a call saying you need to come into the office but, I didn't hear anything. I mentioned having diarrhea at random times. Dr. Barrier's response: don't eat Mexican food. My new doctor says it could be a side affect of one of my meds or IBS. He's going to look into and not make fun of it.
