Dr. Ronniel Nazarian, MD

Dr. Nazarian listened to the reason for my visit as I explained the symptoms and offered medical advice. He explained the situation and the remedy. He was very patient and concerned and made me feel comforted.

What I would say, I trust the doctors advice, Physical Therapy exercise, simple pain relievers as needed, and in the future if anything newer comes up, that will help my particular spinal situation and discomfort. He will definitely let me know as there are greater advancements in this area of orthopedic and improvements in a person of my age at 71 thank you

I attended an independent orthopedic evaluation by Dr. Nazarian that lasted approximately 11 minutes, with the majority of the appointment consisting of Dr. Nazarian’s questions rather than an in-depth physical examination. Dr. Nazarian spent hardly more than one minute physically evaluating the areas involved in my injury; which includes that mid-back, lower back, left hip, and radiating left thigh pain. His final report contained statements that do not accurately reflect either my medical history or what I reported during the evaluation. First, the report states that I experienced electrical shock sensations in my back for approximately two months and that those symptoms resolved, then later developed left thigh pain in June. This characterization is inaccurate. While the electrical shock sensations were among the most severe symptoms during the early stages of my injury, I also experienced mid-back pain, lower back pain, left hip pain, and radiating thigh pain during the same… general period following my injury. These symptoms were not isolated events occurring sequentially as described in the report. The report further states that my "back symptoms seemed to have improved" when they have not and suggested that my thigh pain is mechanical in nature and unrelated to my back injury. In my view, these conclusions were reached despite a very limited physical examination and without sufficient evaluation of the affected areas. Dr. Nazarian’s report draw causation conclusions that were not adequately supported by the brief examination performed, such as his opinion that it was "not completely clear" whether certain limitations are related to my hip or back. I have had no relief from the pain despite two epidural shots, six medial branch shots, physical therapy and six different medications. Dr. Nazarian’s also gave little or no weight to the findings of a four-hour Functional Capacity Evaluation, which thoroughly assessed and documented functional limitations involving my back, hip, and leg. As a patient, I expected a thorough and objective evaluation. Instead, I left feeling that important aspects of my symptoms, medical history, and functional limitations were either misunderstood or inaccurately documented. Based on my experience, patients should understand that the opinions contained in Dr. Nazarian's reports may be formed after a very brief examination and may not fully reflect the patient's reported symptoms, treatment history, or objective functional testing.

The patient improves simply through his communication style — he explains everything clearly, addresses concerns thoroughly, and responds with calmness and patience.

Not my first visit with Dr Nazarian. He is easy to understand, knowledgeable and explained the procedure he is scheduling well.

Essentially they were VERY ACCOMODATING to drop their standard steps in having several levels of personnel interview me about my issues before seeing the doctor. I wanted to see the doctor directly as the symptoms had clearly changed over the past 2 years. But, after the first interview by a Medical Assistant and then an attempt by a PA to repeat an interview, I simply stated that I wanted to see the doctor and not have to repeat my issues as I thought I would leave things out for the doctor. Also, I did not want to do the usual 3-4 weeks of physical therapy without an MRI. The PA, probably per insurance regulations, also wanted to do an XRay which I knew and the doctor subsequently agreed would not reveal anything that would help(as there was no "event" and nothing was broken). So I had to simply but politely state to the PA that I wanted to see the Doctor only and wanted an MRI to get right to my (new and mysterious) painful new problems. So RESPONSIVELY, COOPERATIVELY, I did next… see the Doctor Nazarian who examined me for nerve sensitivities, LISTENED to my reasoning(old PT doesn't work) and agreed àn XRAYwouldn't reveal useful info and so then rapidly and correctly then referred me to their physiatrist (think flesh vs. bone doctor). Their Physiatrist, doctor Mizrachi, subsequently met with me. He had already been informed of my case by Dr. Nazarian and I again stated my old PT exercises were making me worse as something had changed and there was no event and so he rapidly checked me out and and wrote a prescription for an MRI to get at what had changed for me. SO, BIG THANK TO BOTH DOCTORS and everybody for their responsiveness and teamwork BIG TIME. The MRI is now done so we have the data to direct my treatment and stop my old Physical Therapy routine that was actually making things worse.

Dr. Rony Nazarian was professional, with an engaging personality. He was direct in reviewing my imaging (MRIs), with conservative recommendations.. Most importantly, he took the time to listen to my concerns, welcoming all questions I asked. - A Board certified physician who treats with an open dialogue is imperative.

Have seen him before and was very comfortable with his explanations of my issue. I would highly recommend him.
