Careful, thoughtful provider

I had a basal cell carcinoma removed. I told the doctor that I take Plavix, he indicated that that wasn't a problem. The surgery was quick, and then bandaged with a regular bandage, and the doctor and nurse just left without any directions given. They seemed in a rush to get to the next patient, and since I was "done", good bye! The wound started bleeding heavily later that night; I called but he did not respond. Put compresses on for the night. I went back the next day and another doctor cauterized the wound. He was OK, but I won't go back there.

Scheduling an appointment is difficult. I was told it would be 3-4 mos to get an appointment. Also, the person on the phone was impatient and told me that I need to see another type of specialist, which is incorrect. And when I finally arrived, the person at the front office was rude. After meeting the doctor, I decided to start treatment at this office. The treatment I need requires more office visits and when I called to reschedule, same thing (2 months to get an appointment). Also, treatment i need requires healing time and I would like an appointment near the end of the week (so I can heal over the weekend). The person on the phone didn't seem to understand this (or care) and was not helpful. I need repeat treatments and this office does not seem to be set up with a patient centric process for this. I will give them one more chance.

Dr. Schafrank is awesome. I've been going there for 15 years. I had seen him first for acne and he helped me get through high school feeling good about myself. I had seen a few dermatologists before him that weren't very nice and wanted to just put me on acutane right away and not try anything else first. But Dr. Schafrank knew of other creams that worked great for me without all the risks involved. And my dad goes there and gets pre cancerous stuff on his face but Dr. Schafrank helps find it and makes it all better.

Dr. Schafrank has been my dermatologist for 17 years. He is an outstanding physician who is concerned for my well being. He has an excellent caring manner. His nursing staff is excellent. Front office staff is professional and not brusque. Over the years, I have recommended him and his practice to several people including family, friends and employees.

After my release from the military where I served as an officer in the Medical Service Corps and then worked in the health care field. I am in a position to have known hundreds of doctors. Scott Schafrank is at the top of the pyramid combining professional competence with fine patient awareness. A truly exceptional practitioner.

I have been going to him for the past fourteen years. I started going to him at a semi-young age and he has always addressed me in the age I was currently at. He has been "part of my life" during some of the BIGGEST steps anyone takes in life and as long as I have been open and honest he is very respectful of that. I have recommended him to people and always will. He is amazing I couldn't ask for a better doctor.

Dr. Scott Schafrank is the most caring, compassionate physician I have ever been to. He carefully explained the procedure I needed and was very patient with me as I asked and he answered all of my many questions. I was very pleased with his expert care and the office staff. The office is clean and beautifully decorated.

I was a new patient of Dr. Schafrank's who went to see him before my best friend's wedding. I have adult acne which had flared up quite badly, and after explaining that I didn't expect a miracle (but any help he could give me would be greatly appreciated), he told me that I was "doing my job as a maid of honor" because I'd be "making the bride look good in comparison (to me)". I was horrified at his attempt at humor and, after finishing our appointment, I sat in my car and cried. It was terrible. While I'm sure there are other great doctors at Main Line Dermatology, I'll never go back to there again.

Impossible to get an appointment! Have been a loyal patient for many years, but when I had an emergency I had to wait two weeks to be seen! When I asked to just speak to the doctor and ask what I could do in the mean time while I waited to be seen, I was told the doctor was too busy to talk to me.
