Dr. Scott Wayne Sims, MD

I see Dr Sims at the Wetumpka office once a year. Very satisfied with the Dr and staff. They are in a three story building here in Wetumpka but there is no mention of which floor to go to on their appointment reminders, phone calls or messages. I went for my appointment today, 20 minutes early ( as instructed) signed in at the receptionist desk on the ground floor (WRONG). Name, time of appointment, present time, DOCTOR TO SEE.!! Then I took my seat in the waiting room (with my pills in a bag in my lap). The receptionist looked at my name on the register, looked at her computer, and turned the register back around and set in her chair. After waiting over 30 minutes I was curious that I might be at the wrong place and ask the other receptionist if I was in the wrong place. YES!!!!! Dr Sims office is on the SECOND floor. I went upstairs and waited to see the receptionist there. I explained what happened, and was told that being over 30 minutes late would not be seen. And had to… reschedule my appointment. I HOPE there is NOT a $25 charge for missing my appointment when I was there 20 minutes early.

I do not know of cardiologist who does not look over his patients medicines or order/review blood work. I would think that's very important for a specialist who treats cardiac disease , but Dr Sims practices this way.. I would recommend someone else.......

Dr. Sims and staff did an amazing job. Little wait time, polite staff and truly cared about me as a person. Dr. Sims explained everything in my report at a level I could understand and spent extra time with me answering all of my questions. Thank you and your staff for going above what is required.

If you have cardiovascular disease, find some who will manage this condition and not just wait for a cardiac event.

2 visits,both times had tests ,could not get tests results.first time,blamed on cumputeerr.last test 24 hour holter moniiter,after 10 days,called for results.no call back,finally after 4 weeks,returned call,said they had mailed results,test abnormal,needed more tests.yeah right.forgot to do their job.this practice flat out doesnt care,verges on malpractice

I do not understand how this man continues to retain his practice. He both arrogant and deceptive. I am 11 years post double bypass along with 3 stents. I had an incident 2 months ago during which I am sure resulted in the collapse of one of my grafts. After trying to deal with the exhaustion and chest pains for two months I finaily made myself agree to a heart cath. During the cath the graft on the left side of my heart was found to be collapsed which was the cause of the constant exhaustion and frequent chest pain that I had to treat numerous times. In the follow up discussion of his findings I asked him if the collapsed graft could be stented and he replied no. I did not understand at the time that he meant HE could not stent it and the only instructions he gave me were to take a twice daily form of long acting nitro to keep the angina under control but in no way would it act in a manner that would increase the blood flow to my heart and definetly would not fix the problem in any… way. Having been a nurse for quite a few years and also having besides myself numerous family members who have died from cardiac events and some who currently deal with cardiac issues I knew this was a poor treatment plan and decided to get a second opinion from a surgeon. The surgeon's office required a request from my cardiologist and the transfer of my records which I called and requested from Dr. Sims office. At 9:05 p.m. the doctor called me at home wanting to know why I wanted a surgical consult. I replied to him that as my graft was collapsed and I needed it repaired so as to restore blood flow to that area of my heart so that I could return to my usual activities and not feel so exhausted constantly I felt from experience I needed this fixed which would require a surgeon. He then said" You intend to do all that for one vessel?' and I answered "Yes I was." He then stated that his intention was to medicate the symptoms as he did not feel it nessesary to go to the extent of my having a procedure done for that one graft. I told him that apparently I needed that graft as without it functioning I was unable to resume my activities of daily living so in my opinion I did need it repaired. Several times during this conversation the doctor stated "You know this procedure will not help you live any longer." I have never in all the years of dealing with a doctor been faced with a more unethical statement. I asked him would he or would he not send my referral and films from my catherization and he said that yes he would but agian stated, You know this course of action will not help me live any longer. I do not feel that was his call to make. My daughter with whom I reside heard the whole bizzare conversation and was just as stunned and offended by his crass commentary concerning the probability of my life being unlikely to be enhanced or improved by having my graft stented or another graft being done. I will not be using this doctor at all in the future and do not recomend his services to anyone. His "report cad" on this site is very poor and after my dealings with him this week I concur with the assesment.

A nice person, but it's hard to have confidence in him.

Awful. Office visit notes don't match test results.

Weird doctor...asked questions that didn't apply to the reason I was referred to him...didn't seem interested in what I said about problems that I had been having...he checked my previous blood work.....EKG was"unremarkable",.... didn't have my EKG of 3 days prior to my visit with him that showed abnormalities.....made no effort to obtain it ...flippant....said, "Everything looks good.....you are going to be okay." Had I been "okay," I would not have been in his office! I wore halter for 48 hrs., ...scheculed for stress and echo....I am cancelling the tests.., picking up my records, and get my family doctor to refer me elsewhere...

Not a good experience with this Dr.
