Dr. Seth Michael Kaufman

I don't go to the doctor unless I absolutely have to and prefer the most natural healthcare whenever possible, but for the past year I have been dealing with sudden health problems that have ruined my life. I've been to the ER, seen specialists, and been prescribed many drugs with no answers and little help. Specialists tend to only look at one body system instead of the body as a whole. One spent five minutes with me without even looking at my records or history, and his only course of action was to try this drug. I left many appointments in tears. This experience has really shown me how poor our healthcare system is... until I met Dr. Kaufman. I have NEVER met a physician like him. He is a little intimidating at first, but after talking with him I am pretty sure he is a medical genius. He has clearly done a lot of research. He sat with me for at least an hour, looked at all of my records and my health history as a whole, saw that I didn't have the right tests done, ordered what I… needed-- even checking things like autoimmune and Lyme disease. He didn't dismiss me or throw more drugs at me. On the contrary, he validated me, and educated me. Dr. Kaufman spends this kind of time with all of his patients. Knowing this, the office has put a great practice in place of having the patient call ahead to see if the doctor is running late and adjusting the appointment accordingly. I don't mind waiting for care like this. It beats the year I had to wait to find a physician like him. I am so grateful, and for the first time... I'm hopeful.

He tends to run late but that's because he's very thorough and explains things nicely.

First of all, Dr Kaufman's staff is incredibly rude and disrespectful. I took time off of work to have a telephone appointment with my elderly mother. (They went back to not offering in office appointments even though covid is much more under control now.) I called ahead to check on the estimated appointment time as I was coldly "instructed" to do so and was treated terribly. The 2nd time I called when the appointment was over 2 hours late & expressed my frustrations as my mother and I had dinner plans & I did not know when I would be able to reschedule, Briana was horribly condescending and even hung the phone up on us! Our 2:30 appointment finally happened at 5:45 PM and we had to excuse ourselves during the middle of a dinner event. Dr Kaufman spoke over us many times and repeated things he had already told us in our initial appointment. When we explained how we had been treated by his staff he simply said that he had hand picked them and they were the best. He did not even… apologize! We will never go back. There are plenty of good neurologists who are able to stay reasonably on time and treat their patients properly.

I found Dr Seth to be Extremely Rude & Not Honest. When I went there the staff were extremely rude to start off.Then I met with one of the doctors at the practice. He started off by telling me that the Dr. that I went to for 15 years was not a knowledgeable doctor, and It doesn’t surprise me that he lost his license because he never should of been a doctor in the first place. Honestly what doctor that practices in the same city would ever talk like this about another doctor ?? It gets worse He tells me he wants to do injections in my neck and if I don’t agree he will not treat me. I explained that I had Severe Scoliosis,I brought him the recent mri as well I brought him the report from the Top Orthopedic Surgeon at Yale New Haven stating that after he took exclusive exrays and saw my back and the mri that it would take 2 surgeries lasting 16 hours long for each surgery. And There was a chance that I would get paralyzed and he told me straight out that he would not do the Surgery on… me for that reason. He told me to continue to take oxycodone which is the only thing that helps me with my chronic pain . I asked about injections He said No, Stay away from that and just try to stretch and work out w very light weights and continue what I have been doing for 15 years, I have not increased my medication in 8 years. , This is the Top Surgeon At Yale!! He said that the doctor must know much about injections?! This is Again the Top Surgeon Orthopedic who works for YALE .,,, This doctor refused to even take a look at my back . I asked him 2 separate times and he said he didn’t need to. I was in disbelief ! He kept trying to document On his computer which he said he will do later because it wasn’t working instead of looking at me and being a honest , caring doctor . His bedside manners were terrible. Then I asked to talk to Dr Seth and he asked me why. I told him it doesn’t matter why please let him know I would like to talk to him for a minute. Next the assistant comes in and tells me he’s busy you will have to schedule another appointment. Then she tells me , he said he would talk to you for 45 seconds and it better not be for medication . I never even mentioned medication. So he finally came in was stand offish ,I told him the doct never even took a look at my back. That’s why I even came in . He’s like fine I will mention this to him. Then I told him that I didn’t appreciate him putting Dr Fanto down because , he was the Most Caring Doctors & Knowledge Doctors Out there and Dr Seth said well I don’t even know him and I then said Wait I read about you taking kickbacks as well . He couldn’t believe I said that , although this is true and he’s being investigated I just read this last night. Regardless He was Extremely Arrogant And Rude !! Take my advice stay far away from Dr Seth and his staff . He is the Worst Doctor that I have Ever Gone To. I rate him and his staff a “0”

Appointment time 2:00 pm. They say to call ahead in case he's running late. I called at 1:30 and was told he was running an hour late. I show up a little after 3:00, wait till 3:30 and ask if the appointment is going to happen. Yes, he will see you but there is one person ahead of you. Over a two hour wait?--total inconsideration. I didn't wait.

Dr Kaufman’s written report had numerous instances it stating one thing and in reality the response in the interview was the exact opposite. He also totally ignored parts of CT Scans he ordered. The topper to his report was that the patient, who was in a wheel chair, had a normal gait?

Drove 30 min to my appointment, arrived on time. Dr. Kaufman was not even in the office at noon. 2 patients were ahead of me and Dr. Kaufman was doing who knows what, maybe a nice round of golf. So if you want to wait indefinitely Dr. Kaufman's the guy to see.....

This doctor is routinely hours behind in his appts. This is touted as "he's so thorough, he'll take as long as needed for you." Well, then he should schedule accordingly. If a certain type of patient/diagnosis takes an hour, then schedule an hour. Don't give us a 20 min slot and then make us wait 2 hours. These are SCHEDULED CLINIC APPTS. This is not an ER where you can't predict what is walking thru the door. I get running 20, 30, 45 mins late, but 2 hours? We left without being seen. Everyone in the waiting room and the receptionists were like, "Yeah that's how it is all the time." People have other appts and lives, and he wasted 2 hours of mine and my family. There are plenty of neurologists in town and I would not recommend Dr Kaufman.

Dr Kaufman has the worst bedside manner ever. He is pompous, arrogant & rude. Never again!!!

I had a sudden onset complex mix of symptoms at 52 years old. Spinal, cervical, Neuro, vision, swallowing, numbness and some paralysis. I could barely get up the steps to his office. Dr. Kaufman took a lot of time over multiple visits and tests and utimately found the obscure cause. He is a medical detective. One by one he eliminated the potentials and 5 years later I am walking, golfing 9 holes, travelled internationally 2 times, remarried and have most of my life back. I feel so fortunate to have been referred to him as my first and only neurologist. Do not be put off by a wait. If that is an issue to you then you are not suffering from severe and debilitating illness. What’s an hour or two compared to the rest of your life. Seriously...,
