Dr. Sophia Streete-Smalls, MD

I was recommended to Dr Sophia Streete Small in 2018 by my Sister. I am so happy i met her and her wonderful staff. Dr Small is very sweet, thorough and she listened to me attentively and addressed my issues.i will not trade her for another. She is the best doctor i have since i migrated to this country. God bless you and your staff Dr Small, you are the best!!????????????

A few days ago I was seen in Dr. Smalls office by her lovely, pleasant and knowledgeable PA Marlene Pitamber for a 9:00am follow up visit. I have been a patient in this office almost since its inception. I have sat through extremely long (hours) wait periods to see Dr. Smalls and as of late (approximately two years) was often referred to Ms. Pitamber instead. In the last few years I have seen Ms. Pitamber more than my so called primary doctor (hmm.... now that in itself is an issue). Nonetheless, Ms. Pitamber sent me for a foot x-ray I immediately followed up, got the foot x-rayed and was told that I would receive the results in 1-24 hours. Lucky for me, when I called SSS office a few hours later, I was informed that my results were in. However, Ms. Pitamber was with a patient. I asked to be called back and specifically requested that Ms. Pitamber call me on my cellphone and advised that the clinic should delete my home phone number. Two additional calls later, I was told by the… front desk (co-pay collection lady) in her nasty and annoying tone of a voice that Ms. Pitamber called me back (of course she called my house number) and was now gone for the day (SMH). The next day, I called the office and was informed by the same arrogant person that Ms. Pitamber was not in that day. She then proceeded to tell me that Ms. Pitamber stated that I had no broken bones and that a prescription had been sent to my pharmacy. I asked to speak to Dr. Smalls and was told (very nasty tone yet again) that she was with a patient. I reminded her that I too am also a patient and would appreciate a returned call. The co-pay collection lady told me that I was being rude. I guess it was my persistence in wanting to know what was going on with me that classified me as being "rude." Please note that I never raised my voice or used profanity. However, I had to remind her that she was not the doctor and not qualified to discuss my medical condition with me and that furthermore, I had every right to have my concerns addressed with a medical professional. Needless to say, Dr. Smalls never called me back either. Shortly thereafter, I did receive a return call from Ms. Pitamber but the damage from the co-pay collection lady was already done. I was a patient that was left in excruciating pain and without immediate proper consul. It is my earnest belief that if I were not a woman of color but of another persuasion and if their office was located in another zip code (not a predominately African American one) she would have never responded to me in the disrespectful manner that she so candidly did. Perhaps Dr. Smalls would have even called me back. Personally and professionally, I pride myself on treating people with respect and dignity and yet none was extended to me in my time of need by the co-pay collection lady at the SSS Clinic. I wonder how many other patients are treated with this same blatant disregard.

dr smalls and her assistant are very nice. but the staff there,sucks..especially loretta. they have bad attitudes and treat the patients like myself,like crap.they never want to do their job poroperly and they get a attitude when you call and ask them to put in a referral. that office needs new and courteous staff!!

Office staff very rude and incompetent, they treat you like it’s a free clinic and they’re doing you a favor

I am new to this doctor, make two visits so far. Dr listens and explains to my questions etc. Wait time on second visit was extra long but I did get through. Location is excellent

Dr Smalls is a great Dr along with PA Pitamber, but her staff especially Loretta has poor bedside manners and very incompetent. The wait is long.

I have been a patient of Dr. Smalls for 13 years. She is very professional and her staff is friendly and professional as well. When you talk to Dr Smalls she you can tell that she cares about your health as much as you do.

Spends time.

Dr smalls staff is horrible. Some of her workers are in competent. They talk down to u. If u ask a question, before they try and help you or at least figure out what is the problem they would get an attitude as if "why are you here", and "I don't want to do this". Dr smalls as well seems a little detached from her patients. She does not make u not her staff feel welcome. It's very uncomfortable. I would not recommend anyone to Dr Smalls.
