Summary
Dr. Skeens attended medical school at Des Moines University in his home town in Iowa, and completed his residency at the nearby Mercy Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. He practiced primary care medicine with UnityPoint Clinics in Cedar Falls, Iowa, for nearly ten years, also serving as faculty for three years within the family medicine residency program, teaching and mentoring new physicians, both in clinic and hospital settings. A fun fact: Dr. Skeens graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and worked as a freelance illustrator for several years before entering medical school. Outside of medicine, he is generally found outdoors exploring new places with wife and dog, adventure cycling, running, or taking photographs. Dr. Skeens is thrilled to join Weill Cornell Medicine Primary Care and establish new roots in New York City.

Dr. Skeens is not only a very bright doctor, which I am sure you can easily find at a system like Weill Cornell, but he is incredibly kind, relatable, approachable, human and very much invested in providing the best care for his patients. He is truly collaborative and open to exploring paths and solutions to solve problems! I have never gotten this level of care before!
