I believe Dr Poletti is a brilliant neurosurgeon and truly wants to help people, my prior review is in regard to Southeastern Spine's business model and practice of over scheduling and over booking patience for the same time frame. I have been to Dr Poletti on five occasions. All of which required me to wait well beyond an hour and a half past my appointment scheduled start time before being brought back to be seen. 1-2 times out of 5, of waiting an hour and a half past might be justifiable. But 5 out of 5 is reflection of their business model. The last visit I had to Southeastern Spine, after the 1.5 hour past mark, I asked the receptionist how behind schedule they were today. Her reply was about an hour, I asked how many people were in front of me, she said it was hard to tell, 5 or 6? I asked her how that could be, because my appointment was already over an hour behind. She shrugged and said, he is usually running behind. My review is on the business practice of over scheduling patients and the blatant disregard for the value of their customers time. At your appointment to Southeastern Spine you will be seen by a Very qualified Neurosurgeon or his extremely qualified and wonderful bedside manor physicians assistant, but be prepared to make a day of your visit before scheduling your appointment to Southeastern Spine. Great Neurosurgeon, allows his practice to over schedule patients and blatantly disregards the value of his customers time
I had been having back and leg pain for several months and kept thinking it would go away. I finally went to see Dr. Poletti and he diagnosed my problem immediately. I have had injections so far and it has helped. No surgery yet!!! Thanks to Dr. Poletti and his staff I am feeling much better!
On the first visit i received a simple diagnosis, but no particulars and no treatment plan. My second visit today was to ask for a treatment plan and viable options. I walked out of the practice after waiting for one hour and one half in a holding room. In that time NO one ever came into the room to explain the delay or check on me. A very bad indication of the way this practice respects patients.
my quality of life has had little change, other than the fact that I have been relegated to a constant, daily life of pain medication. In the past 6 months since my surgery, I have seen Dr. Poletti a grand total of one time during my 6-7 follow up visits to date. That visit with him lasted less than 60 seconds before he left the examining room, to never return. The day of my surgery, my family was left in the surgical waiting room for over 4 hours, even though my surgery was only 1 hour and 15 minutes long. No one came out to tell them my status post op, where I was, what room number I might be in, or even if the operation was successful. It was only after my wife's persistent requests (4 times) that someone, not Dr. Poletti, finally released any information as to my status. I originally thought that the operation was a success, as I had extreme nerve pain running the entire length of my right leg, all the way to my foot as well as moderate pain in my right crotch where my thigh joined my hip. Post op, the vast majority of the pain was relieved ( or so I thought). The pain meds that I am prescribed, are not some that can be called in to a pharmacy, they must be mailed to my house, and I live over 160 miles from their office. Since the surgery, on 3 different occasions when I called in for these refills, at least 1 week in advance, it has taken 10 days or more before I received the refills in the mail. This has caused me to have several days with no medication at all to relieve my pain. Guess what I discovered during that time ? That nerve pain in my leg that I thought had been successfully removed, was still there but just masked by the pain meds. To some, this might sound like I am a junkie, but if you have ever had severe, chronic, back and nerve pain, then you understand what it is like. Not once in the 6 months since my surgery has he, or any member of his staff asked me where my pain level was on that particular day. Wouldn't you think that might be a good way to start in addressing a patient's current status ? I would. In my opinion, Dr. Poletti, is a surgeon and a physician, but has forgotten how to be a doctor. I say this because I know what a doctor is supposed to be. My father was a surgeon that practiced for 50 years, and my brother has been practicing medicine for over 40 years. I also have 3 other family members that have over 100 years of practicing medicine between them. Never in my life have I seen a medical practice operate the way of the Southeastern Spine institute. It is quite evident that they are in it just for the money, and how many patients they can bill on any given day. If you are looking for a group that rarely returns phone calls when you have a question, concerns, or need a prescription filled in a timely manner, then by all means, proceed with this group. Otherwise, I can not give them a rating anywhere close to being an average practice at best.
