Dr. Sujie Tang, MD

My mum received her chemo treatment with Dr Tang. She is a very good doctor and always think in patient’s perspective. She is extremely careful yet decisive in diagnosing what treatment that my mum should undergo and so my mum could receive timely treatment. She has good referral of other doctors and I’m so confident to rest my mum with Dr Tang. She is also a very caring doctor who comforted and encouraged my mum to face the disease positively. When my mum was in the hospital after undergoing surgery, she got fever constantly in midnight. After calling Dr Tang, she rushed to the hospital and saw my mum. We would also like to thank you for all the nurses who have taken good care of my mum. My mum and I are so grateful and feel blessed to have Dr Tang and her team to walk with us in our difficult times.

My parent with cancer was in and out of the hospital for months and we could not get her to her regular UCLA oncologist. In trying to figure out what was going on with my parent, I asked the attending if we could run a blood test to see where the cancer was and provide that test to her regular doctor. Dr. Tang was recommended. -- Days later, I found her card on my parent's hospital table and called. No response. I then happened to run into her at the hospital, I explained we needed the tests, we had an oncology, we want to get the information to UCLA so we could figure it out and come up with a care plan. Yes she agreed - although incredibly difficult to understand what she was saying, incredibly rude, but said she understood. No follow up from her. I called and left a message. Then late on a Friday night she called and said she didn't have all the results yet. After several attempts to get the information and complaining to the attending after three weeks - Dr. Tang's assistant said… that if we wanted those test results we'd have to get them from the hospital medical records or come into her office for an appointment. I am aware that she charged medi-care over $2000 for test results she would not give us.

Horrible rude

I submitted the review "lack of urgency" and I wanted to clarify some things. The doctor is doing the best she can given the time that had past in which she had no control over. I'm just frustrated with the insurance company and how long things gets processed. My moms cancer is complicated and she is taking precautionary measures. She takes time to answer my questions and she is straight to the point. I appreciate her thoroughness.

She doesn't sugar coat anything, so you may think her beside manner could use some work, but she knows her stuff and I feel very fortunate to have her in charge of my care.
