Not very friendly or caring

I have a very tight pelvic floor so rectal exams are very painful. She stuck her finger inside me during a GI visit with no warning, without asking if I was comfortable. And of course, I had my back to her so I didn’t realize what was happening until she was doing it. She kept her finger inside me even though I was crying hysterically from pain and awkwardly pat my shoulder after I asked her to stop touching me. It’s hard to believe she ever took an oath to do no harm because I feel emotionally harmed after this experience. Doctors should value the entire patient, not just the parts they’re interested in.

I can't say enough nice things about this Doctor. I wish all my doctors were the same. She was so helpful, clearly explained everything before surgery, came to the hospital on the weekend when she didn't even have office hours to check on me. I would recommned Dr. Gearhart to anyone. She was outstanding.

Awful experience with Dr. Gearhart. She was completely unwilling to perform necessary tests and the administrative help was abominable.

Dr Gearhart is one of the best caring physicians that I have encountered at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Gearhart is kind, professional, compassionate and well-skilled. My brother had a tumor that was moving into stage 3. She coached him through radiation & chemo and then removed the tumor. Almost every doctor said that the tumor was too close to his rectum. She was able to remove the tumor and restore him to wholeness.

Dr. Gearhart was very professional and sympathetic during our initial surgical consultation. She spent so much time with me reviewing our options that I felt safe in her hands and opted for the surgery. She arrived in the O.R. still with purse and jacket two minutes prior to surgery time. When the surgery was complete I was put in the hands of a discharge nurse who was not very knowledgeable regarding my surgery. I asked her many questions in which her response was "You'll have to ask the Dr.", but when I asked to speak to the Dr., she was unavailable. A few days after the surgery, complications developed, so her staff scheduled me to see her. She was two hours late to our appointment in which see saw me for three minutes and told me I needed to be admitted to their hospital regarding my new complications, but disregarded my issues with surgery site. I had many questions built up for her due to her different staff members all giving me different and contradicting answers. One of the… P.A.'s even told my staples are going to be uncomfortable, when I hadn't elected a staple surgery, but statures only. I stayed in the hospital for three days in which she did not once check on me when I specifically requested it. The hospital staff was only focusing on the new problems that developed and unknowledgeable regarding my procedure once again, including the five different Dr.'s who tended to me during my stay. I was discharged from the hospital without any help for either problem, and I'm currently awaiting my referral to another team of Doctors. Overall I felt as if Dr. Gearhart was to busy to care after she did her job and left the rest of her unknowledgeable team to tend to me.

Dr Gearhart was very professional and caring at the same time. Referred me to an alternate procedure that has given me control over my life again. Very prompt with follow-ups.
