Dr. Tamara Alberts Suarez, PhD

I have never posted a public review of any service or individual professional in my life. However, my negative experience with Tamara has stayed with me for years, and I now feel compelled to relay my therapy story with her. I initially went to see Tamara to help with chronic low self esteem. Her initial response was to give me a full up and down and reply “Well, you look fine to me.” I then attempted to discuss my insecurities in dating, to which she responded with “You know what you need to do, just get out there and date and date.” It took me 8 years to finally reach out to another therapist after my experience with her, all the while trying to reign in the deep sense of shame brought on after each subsequent appointment with Tamara. I have since been diagnosed with depression, which should have been fairly obvious for any mental health professional to see at the time. My current therapist and psychologist have both been mortified on behalf of fellow mental health professionals… when I have relayed my experience with Tamara. My purpose in posting this is not to individually denigrate one individual, but rather steer other young women confronting similar issues away from a “professional” who seems to care more for her own self image than those patients who vulnerably place their innermost most mental trust and wellbeing in her hands. Shameful.
