Dr. Tara Illeana Allmen, MD

Dr. Tara Allmen is an exceptional doctor. She cares about her patients well beyond her specific practice as an OB/GYN. She is an expert in womens health, really all aspects of health and well being. She always offered helpful actionable guidance whenever I’ve expressed concerns. Lastly she is very generous with her time. On many occasions, she will often call return calls during her personal time (which is above and beyond many other physicians in my experience.)

Just buy the book. There isn’t much more to her than that. Not a doctor, more like a TED talk.

Dr. Allmen is amazing. I can be shy, but she made it easy to talk about everything. The care she puts into treating her patients is unbelievable.

Dr. Allmen is a highly competent doctor. She works from a comprehensive, research-based model with an approach that is warm and humorous. Dr. Allmen is very responsive to my communication and follows-up immediately with pending issues (i.e., prescriptions for diagnostic testing, various referrals, testing results). Dr. Allmen is incredibly compassionate and thorough. She came highly recommended by a world renowned bone metabolic specialist. I had early onset osteoporosis. Dr. Allmen is probably one of the leading experts in the field of menopause and how is affects women. She has a great personality and she is quick witted and that makes it easy to discuss some of the more embarrassing and emotional aspects of being premenopausal or in menopause. Like a lot of women who live In the suburbs I have been to very good physicians, but they aren’t as versed on this topic. So my advice is she is worth the trip. She is extremely responsive to getting back to you. She is easy to arrange an appointment with. She doesn’t Keep you waiting. She wrote a book, it’s on Amazon and you will understand how she makes this relatable and a normal journey .You leave her office feeling renewed and hopeful that you can enjoy your active life.

Dr. Tara Allmen is a knowledgeable physician whom I highly recommend. A patient of Dr. Allmen for four years, I could not be happier. A lovely person and excellent doctor!

I found Dr. Allmen to be very responsive. We chatted over phone and by email prior to and after my appointment. She put my mind greatly at ease when she studied my medical records and heard my concerns and confirmed that I am indeed right smack in Perimenopause and that there is a new normal with irregular periods and new symptoms. She asked that my husband come as well which I loved. Due to two years of intense caregiving for my mother and then her subsequent death I had also gained a lot of weight and was experiencing depression and anxiety. This resulted in a dramatic spike in my blood pressure. She refused to start birth control so I could ride out Peri but she saved my life as I now have a cardiologist and got my BP under control. I thank her so much for that wake up call that started my journey back to health.

Dr. Allmen has a vast knowledge of all gynecological issues and a very engaging personality. Her appointments run on schedule with minimal time in the waiting room. I absolutely trust her to consider both the big picture and analyze the small details. I also recommend her book, Menopause Confidential. It is a great reference for so many midlife women’s issues and gives a sense of her upbeat humor and personality.

Dr. Allmen is a rare find. Finally a GYN specifically for the needs of the midlife woman. She is smart compassionate and create unique treatment plans and strategies for each patient, no one size fits all plan. In addition, she has altered my care based on my changing needs as I grow older. Lovely office staff, overall experience excellent.
