Dr. Tara Byer Parsons, MD

I was very excited to visit with Dr. Byer. She and her husband came highly recommended by another doctor and I read great reviews. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience like others. She was over 15 minutes late to my appointment, I heard her next door with another patient and understood. I figured she would give me the same attention she did them so I didn’t say anything. Sadly, she did not. She talked over me, rushed through my appointment, and disregarded some of my concerns. When I tried to discuss skin cancer history she brushed it off. Saying one type was not a big deal anymore but if I really wanted to be checked she would at a different appointment. Acknowledging she was booked months out and that it wouldn’t be for a while. I had questions that I had to push to ask and was urged to finish the appointment quickly. It’s unfortunate as I had to wait months for this appointment. It’s clear she doesn’t treat all her patients the same. I’m not sure why some get all the time… needed to talk and others do not. I left feeling very disheartened and still do.

Dr. Byer-Parsons has been my dermatologist for years. She has always been thorough and has fantastic bedside manner. I started seeing her when she was with Atrium at the CMC Main Campus. I received a letter that she was leaving the practice, so I called to ask that they let me know where she was going. I followed her to Novant in Matthews (inconvenient based on where I live). When I tried to schedule another appointment, I see via Google she is now back with Atrium in the Steele Creek area. There was never any communication about this, and Steele Creek is even more inconvenient. She's a great doctor, and if you're nearby you should go, but it's been very difficult to keep up. I'm going to find a new provider that's a bit more reliable.

Dr. Byer-Parson is one of the kindest, empathetic and professional doctors we have experienced. She is thorough, detailed and does NOT rush you. She will sit and explain things not once but as many times you need. She is compassionate and her expertise shines through each visit.

Dr. Byers-Parson is so thorough and so easy to talk to and is very open and forthright with everything. I am so glad to have her as my dermatologist. She is wonderful

Dr. Byer-Parsons is a very inconsiderate dermatologist. If you are thinking about taking a course of accutane, it would not be in your best interest to visit her. Dr. Parson's will discharge you from her practice when she does not think "it is a good fit". Additionally Dr. Byer Parsons, will not follow up with you after you first month on accutane after discharging you. Accutane is a very serious drug, it can cause birth defects in women, yet this doctor obviously does not care.

Oh my gosh- she is the nicest, kindest Doctor! I was so impressed that I brought my daughter too. She is so relaxed and gentle with kids. So happy to get in. I know it was a wait- but so worth it!

She is a very caring Doctor and is accessible when needed.

I highly recommend Dr. Byer-Parsons. I have been going to her for 1 1/2 years and have been extremely impressed with her bedside manner, compassion, listening skills, and knowledge. She diagnosed my skin condition and has been managing it very well. She even called me personally with my pathology report within 3 days! I have since brought my son to her and have recommended her to my dad, several friends, and coworkers. All have been pleased. I have been so happy to have found such a personable and caring dermatologist.

I wish I could honestly give as good a grade to this physician as others did, but my conscience simply will not let me. She diagnosed my husband's problem incorrectly and we ended up having to go to another specialist for treatment. She seemed rushed the day we were there and we had to wait an extreme amount of time compared to other physicians we have been to. Probably just our luck and we went in on a bad day for everyone. Irregardless, I think she could even "pretend" to care a bit more and speak more clearly. She speaks too fast and slurs her words together. We will not be going back, but if you are planning on going in to see her I would suggest leveling with her and telling her what you expect from your physician. Speaking clearly would definitely be a plus.
