Dear Dr. Fairchild Thank you. Thank you for being biased. I was your patient in 2016 when you diagnosed cancer in my prostate gland. You told me that- "I want to remove your prostate gland, but I'M BIASED" You therefore sent/ordered? me to go to Cancer Care Northwest for a second opinion. You said "I'm biased" without reservation. You said "I'm biased' with confidence. You said "I'm biased" like you had good reason-but more than that, you said "I'm biased" like it meant something very important. You were pretty old, and you had a whole long experienced career which caused you to tell me, with all your knowledge, and all your experience, and all your good judgment, and all your good expertise, and all your good ideas, that you were biased, and biased for damn good reason, because you had thousands of patients, and you saw so much and heard so much and did so much and knew so much that you told me, without saying it in words, that you knew what was best for me, and you… wanted to do what was best for me, and by saying "I'm biased", you filled me with all that knowledge and experience and expertise and good ideas, and gifted me with everything you had and everything you were and everything you did...all of it, everything, every bit of everything you had, you gave to me. WOW!!! You infused me with all of everything and made it so crystal clear to me what I must do. You took all the cancer out of my body. Thank you, thank you, thank you for every patient you treated, and if you had ten thousand patients, I should thank you ten thousand times, because all of everything you learned from ten thousand patients benefited me ten thousand times, because you told me that "I'm biased".
