Dr. Thomas Patricio Short, MD

This office of Dr. Short is so clean and nice. The staff seems nice enough and works hard to help each patient. Dr. short seems to be a besy Dr. I wasn't going to be able to see him until 2 weeks but his staff has a cancellation list and they worked me in. Dr. Short I've been seeing for over a year. Dr. Short has been a very nice Doctor to me. I'd had a terrible year of gruesome pain and was going through every kind of test on every piece of me from head to toe when my family physician referred me to Dr. Short for a review of things. I was apprehensive at first as I'd been so used to going to this specialist, and that one, about this or that, & each specialist trying to explain to me that my entire problem was something that they could fix as it was something that had to do with just that area in which they were professionals. Dr. Short, however, was a kind, courteous man who came in, introduced himself and gave me a "genuine" handshake. There's a difference between shaking someone's hand that is a rank stranger, and say, shaking your dad's hand. Dr. Short listened to all of my ailments, reviewed all of my medical testing information that was done up to date, and asked me if I would be willing to go see another GI Dr. in another city. When I asked why, he explained what his… best skills are and that the testing he'd want done, if positive, would require surgery that he felt, another Dr would be far superior to him. I did some checking into the situation as I have a few family members high up in the Medical Industry, 1 Dr. and 1 Flight Nurse that has the sole responsibility to keep patients alive when plucked from disasters, wrecks, etc... and often had to do things while flying fast and low, that most surgeons wouldn't be comfortable doing on a perfectly still, well lit operating table. Anyway, I found out, Dr. Short was being 100% honest w/ me. The Dr. that he was going to send me to is known to be one of the best in the Southeastern US in his area of specialization as a Dr. Dr. Short has performed multiple procedures on me, all of which I was Terrified to go have done, but between he, and the staff at Decatur Med Surg Clinic, I was completely relaxed and at ease, not even worrying at all, soon after they took me back to begin preparing for surgery. Dr. Short is one very special Dr. who has what it takes to overcome so much. Thanks to people like him, people like me are still alive.
