Dr. Thomas D Patenaude, PhD

Dr. Patenaude is a gifted therapist and diagnostician. He is also an amazing forensic psychologist and truly understands the intersection of psychology and law. I have so much to thank him for. He is a very attentive, compassionate, and intuitive person. He is incredibly attuned and brings cohesion from fragmentation. He is really smart! beyond a text book, and is very astute clinically. He is incredibly engaged and talks a lot. Makes you feel really comfortable and valued. I have referred so many people to him including the CEO of the company I work for! I highly recommend him.

I'd say go elsewhere. Felt like he just goes through the motions. He didn't seem genuine

I've been working Dr. Patenaude for several months and he helped me through and stabilize my depression, how I felt about myself, and helped me grow as a person. He is a very good at listening, engaged, and always provided feedback that was helpful and on point. He was never judgemental or critical, and he really normalized things for me. I am staying with him to continue to work on self-growth.

He cancels appointments at the last minute, he doesn't seem to care much, I went for months thinking it was me, but when I finally had enough and then took some time to find a new therapist, I found it wasn't me at all. You go to therapy because you need help, one needs an attentive and reliable therapist, not one that looks at his phone and acts like he'd rather be somewhere else. He actually made me feel worse. Therapy isn't cheap either, look elsewhere.

I initially sought out Dr. Thomas Patenaude at the recommendation of both my PCP and a professional contact. My intent was to find help for my adolescent son with ADHD, depression, and significant substance abuse. There is so much to say about Dr. Patenaude, that I'll just say he is "normal," non-reactive, not judgmental, & respectful. He is very bright and competent (his years of experience was evident as was his ability to disarm and connect with my son, and me). He is extremely proactive, his assessment "on point," his communication is very direct and clear (he does not tell you what he thinks you want to hear and he is non-judgmental), painfully clear, yet highly sensitive and empathic, helps you "navigate" through issues and is extremely responsive and collaborative; he talks a lot so you always know. I could go on. I took the time to write this because he literally saved my son's life, helped him reclaim his life, repaired or family. Amazing therapist; amazing person!

My husband I met with Dr. Patenaude as a result of severe conflict in our marriage. He helped us get through a very difficult time. We are very apprciative of him and his help.

He started off good, but quickly faded into an interested therapist. Maybe I became boring to him? He could have at least referred me to someone else.

My daughter had been seeing him for years. He was great at first, but gradually became unreachable during the pandemic. Numerous phone calls, texts and emails went ignored. We eventually had to find another therapist. I think some therapists need their own therapist.

Seems kind and caring, but don't think he really is. Felt fake to me, like he would rather be somewhere else, not really listening. I kept thinking it would get better, because he came recommended, but he did not, it got worse. I think some of these therapists need more help than the people that come to them.

Saved our Marriage and helped his grow individually. Dr. Patenaude really seems to understand how people and relationships work. He was able to help us work through our issues through looking beyond what we were saying to him. He has incredible insight, listens well, is very focused and is extremely intuitive. He listen with an empathic ear, yet is very direct and holds you accountable for behavior etc., in a disarming manner. Lastly, he is able to relate to you in a a normal manner and draws anecdotal information from others and life to help normalize and create a sense of not being alone with one's issues or struggles, without minimizing or invalidating you. Has very good boundaries. He is really a seasoned and brilliant therapist as another person has said.
