Dr. Traian Cojocaru, MD

I would rate Dr. Cojocaru as one of the finest doctors I've even had. His staff is also excellent. Here are the details. Having spent several years in pain, and not having any relief from a previous surgery, I was very lucky to be referred to Dr. Cojocaru. I had four (4) appointments with him and was amazed at the amount of time he spent with me during each appointment. Our first meeting lasted well over 2 hours, we ended up walking out together after hours, the VA had already started turning off their lights. Our next meeting was to discuss the CT scan and EMG he called for, at which time he spent well over an hour explaining what he needed to do to relieve my pain. Our third meeting was a surprise indeed, it was for Pre-op. I expected to be sitting in a room with other patients also scheduled for surgery, watching slides and getting handouts. This is what my last Pre-op included. When I showed up for the appointment, I inquired to how many other patients would be present. I… was told the Pre-op was just for me, and Dr. Cojocaru would be going over things with me. Two weeks later I reported for surgery and the rest is history. For all my appointments, I'll guess that the doctor spent a total of at least 5 hours with me. He also called me at home on several occasions to calm my fears as well as answer a few questions I had. This was my first ever overnight hospital stay. My last surgery was treated as out-patient. During the 5 days I was in the hospital he came to visit me every single day, even on Sunday. It's been just over 3-weeks since my surgery and I have improved daily. My pain is gone and I now have my life back. I tried to thank him, but he said just seeing me so improved was all the thanks necessary. I told him my family and friends were all grateful to him, kind of like he gave me back to them. A very fine doctor indeed. :-)

This is my 3rd time going under his knife so I trust his skills

He will tell you one thing, but in the notes he will say something totally different. He basically wasted a year of my time, and had me get several needless MRI's because the ones I had 2 weeks prior to his weren't requested by him. Then a discharge with no treatment. But, my notes stated, "He offered a surgical option and I would think about it." And he would get back to me in one more year. So, two years wasted as things degrade....then again, he works for the V.A. so what should we expect.
