Dr. Troy Isaac Mounts, MD

I had a surgery 7 weeks ago performed by Dr. Mounts. I purposely waited to leave feedback to ensure that my healing was coming along fine. The surgery center was good, but I must say that the procedure itself was excellent due to the surgeon who performed it! What impressed me the “most,” was Dr. Mounts‘ ability to explain thoroughly and respond to my questions without making me feel as though my questions were a waste of time! In fact, I contacted him after hours leading up to the surgery and following, and received an expeditious response each and every time. Dr. Mounts gets my utmost highest recommendation!!!

Dr. Mounts is a very rare ortho surgeon in me experience (and I have lots of that dating back to 1978 and my first serious injuries in the army). He listens. He also explains things very well and in an understandable way. I have complete confidence in him.

I was referred to Dr. Mounts by Dr. Kevin Colton (another five star Doctor, and believe me, I've been to Doctors I would rate with a negative star rating if possible). From the very beginning, Dr. Mounts showed great concern for my overall health. I went in for lower back pain, which he ordered the appropriate tests for and checked against my past records. He's a surgeon, but he recommended physical therapy to start, which helped a great deal. When I returned, he said he would like to take a look at my upper spine. I have cervical dystonia, which pulls my head and shoulder muscles involuntarily. I've had this for 20 years, and I had already had recent MRI's and Xrays, and felt there was nothing that could be done in that area. Dr. Mounts saw that the spine was jutting forward in a way that would soon be interfering with my ability to walk. He said I was close to needing a cane, and would progress to a walker, then a wheelchair if the spine wasn't repaired. He also wanted… to look at my hands, which were quite painful and had a great deal of tremor. He felt these symptoms were also related to the jutting spine. I was astonished because I had been under the care of a neurologist (the type of doctor my condition requires) and she had assured me that my MRI's and X-rays showed nothing unusual for someone with my condition. She said my hand pain was probably just carpal tunnel, and to wear a night brace. Dr. Mounts takes so much time to explain everything. He showed my my MRI and X-ray results, moved them around on his computer, and explained which direction we were looking at. I could see that the spine was jutting out at maybe a 35 to 40 degree angle? Can't quite remember, but it looked horrific. I know this review is long!! But I just can't say enough about how grateful I am to Dr. Mounts. He had to completely remove one vertebrae and scrape out the surrounding disks. After the surgery, my spine was fused and perfectly straight. (The fuse is completely unnoticeable to me, btw, I have the same amount of mobility as before!) My hand pain is GONE and I'll be able to walk, dance and act silly with my 8 grandchildren! I was so close to losing that mobility. His staff is also amazing. They are all so kind, and well qualified, answering questions as I wait for the doc. And yes, there is somewhat of a wait, but that's to be expected with surgeons. I still gave 5 stars on promptness and brought my book ; ) Once you're in the office, you're treated as if you're the only patient they've ever had.

Dr. Mounts cares about his patient. He not only did a fantastic surgery , but, he was their several times for follow up, even late at night.
