Dr. Mark Francis Mooney, MD

Dr. Mooney walks into the exam room and says "I'm not going to be Mr. Nice guy like all your other doctors" and proceeds to tell me that he reviewed my MRI and there is no reason for my pain - it's all in my head. Astonished, I point to where I'm feeling pain and say "no, the pain is right here" . He hasn't even examined me yet and never did. Then he tells me he's certainly not going to recommend a hip replacement for me. Hip replacement? Where the heck did that come from? I hadn't even anticipated anything that drastic. At the most I was hoping for a cortisone shot. 2 1/2 years later and my head is still telling me I'm in pain. He must have been "Mr. Nice guy" to those people who say he has such a good bedside manner. Wish I'd gotten that guy.

Dr Mooney did a total knee replacement. Nothing went right. Worse pain I ever experienced. Nothing felt right. Therapy for several months with no relief. Took me over a years to get him to agree on a second opinion. I could hardly walk. Finally went to Stanford and almost everything had to be redone. And it's still not right. Always get a second or even a third opinion.

Dr. Mooney went out of his way to help me with both a torn meniscus, and also to refer me to a doctor for a torn labrum in my shoulder. I was incredibly nervous about both surgeries (especially the shoulder surgery), and he made sure to walk me through all my options in detail. Both my shoulder and knee have completely recovered, and I'm back to all the activities I loved to do pre surgery. Thanks for everything Dr. Mooney!!!
