Dr. Uma Chatterjee, MD

I’m so saddened, I really enjoyed dr chatterjee on my first visit two years ago and decided to stick with this practice. This time around I can’t say the same. After my yearly visit I left the office a bit upset. I was being asked my medical history by dr chatterjee, she asked about any mental illnesses so I shared with her I have anxiety/depression, I told her I see a therapist once a week. She then proceeds to tell me I should be on medication, I told her I enjoy therapy & will be sticking to that as my treatment. My therapist has told me I am fine to have my only treatment as weekly/biweekly therapy visits & the simplest way I can put what she said after that was that I’m a burden on my family/friends and am being unfair to my young daughter by not taking medication for my mental illness. That’s NOT a way to be helpful to someone suffering with mental illness. To add insult to injury I got my bill from the office and was charged for a “brief emotional/behavioral assessment” that I… never asked her for. I was simply giving her my medical history, I never asked for her help & as I said I already see a licensed therapist & have been for over a year. It’s sad that people with mental illness can’t even be open about it without things like this happening. There’s already a stigma around mental illness and this is just one perfect example of that. This is the reason people don’t speak up about their mental health. I will definitely not be back.

The staff is horrible! Not helpful at all!

Love Dr. Chatterjee! The staff could be a little friendlier, and you don't mind the wait because you know she takes her time with every one of her patients.

Dr chatterjee is a great doctor .I have been going to her for over 20 years. She is very compassionate. She will be highly recommended from me.

Dr. Chatterjee is fantastic....her staff, not so much. Primary drawback are the people on the phone and desk, not the person who takes your vitals. This is especially true if you have an issue, and it took almost the same amount of time to check out that it did for the exam. After my mammo & ultrasound the hospital recommended an MRI - have tried for 3 days to get the script....which I need to make the appointment - and her staff said I don't.

Dr. Chatterjee is an excellent doctor. Compassionate, caring, knowledgeable, trustworthy, intelligent. Lately, her office staff has changed and is difficult to deal with , even rude.

Dr. Chatterjee is the best of the best. She saved my life by finding nodules in my Thyroid glad in a general physical and no other doctor noticed these. My thyroid was removed b/c the nodules were cancerous. I am 100% now and I owe her much gratitude. She is very professional and truly cares about her patients. A class act!

Great doctor! I strongly recommend her. The best in the Delaware. Nice, carying, very pleasant, warm personality.

In this fast pace arena of healthcare, it is refreshing to know that a physician still exist that would care enough to treat you with respect, dignity and caring. I too am in the medical field and have been a nurse for over 30 years, and believe me her "loving" nature for another human being is rare.
