Dr. Upendra H Patel, MD

I had a fractured finger and due to lucky circumstances he saw me immediately. He's good. He continues to practice because he enjoys what he does and wants to help others.

My entire family have been seeing Dr. Patel for about 20+ years. Simply the best.

My mother seen Dr. Patel and had to have a knee replacement. My family and I should have taken her elsewhere for her 2nd replacement, but we didn't want to argue with her. With all the pain she was originally in, Dr. Patel told her it would eventually go away and she can deal with it. Needless to say, both were done incorrectly and both had to be redone at Rush Hospital in Chicago in 2009. She passed away 5 months later. I do NOT recommend anyone to see this Dr. unless you don't want a normal life again. What a waste of life!!

Don't have hip replacement with this doctor. PLEASE!!!! I recommend another doctor if you want to get well.

I was an athlete in need of ACL reconstruction. He told to give up athletics because I couldn't make any money off of it. That should have tipped me off, but I didn't know any better and had him do it anyway. I felt great until my graft failed at the 11-month mark. After being told by Dr. Patel to stop working out and just start eating less, I went to one of the top sports physicians (professional team) in the area and he told me it failed because Dr. Patel set the graft at a much too straight angle. I now have had 3 additional knee surgeries in hopes of correcting the damage that Dr. Patel has done.

He is an EXCELLENT surgeon, bery caring and thorough. He even draws diagrams of the operation he is going to perform. Office waiting times are a bit long, but I feel he is worth the wait!
