Doctors overall manner is very cold and sterile. He has told me my child needs inpatient mental health treatment several times yet he becomes impatient and short with me when I ask for any information on how to go about doing this. I'm given no referrals or resources for treatment of my child. He is in quite the rush to wrap every appointment up in 5-7 minutes even though we're scheduled for 15 minute time slots with this doctor. Also, even though my child has seen this doctor many times, he never seems to remember anything about my childs mental health history, and does not seem to want to bother to check the case file. He asks the same generic questions each visit and when you answer yes about serious concerns your told inpatient treatment is needed and then rushed out. Why does he even bother asking these questions? He doesn't seem to document any of the answers when you would think alarm bells and red flags should be going up? Each visit it's like he is just going through the… motions. The purpose of these visits seem to be only to write prescription refills. He leaves me hanging every time with a very disturbed child. I regret that as a parent I have been passive with this whole scenario and wasted so much time while my child is getting progressively worse. Now I am being very proactive with searching for quality mental health care with an agency that can provides an arsenal of services. A child with special needs and/or mental health concerns deserves so much more than what has been provided here. Parents also deserve more too. At the very least information and referrals to resources,and not for a Doctor to automatically blame the parent/s when you have a child who has had a life time of mental health problems.
