Dr. Vasantha K. Perkari, MD

I have no complains about the doctor I am seeing at this office. However, the administration of the office has no empathy, and is just money driven. They want to make sure they milk your insurance for every single interaction and at any possible opportunity. I called the office to ask to contact my doctor and was told that I have to make appointment to speak to her. No reasoning was accepted by them. Very unfortunate, that the office administration that has no medical degree, makes a decision to whether a patient can contact their own PCP just based on the greed claiming that it's the office policy. This lack of care on their behalf, unfortunately, leaves a impression on the doctor as well.

I and family members were patients of Dr. Perkari for many years. One of the main reasons for selecting her was that her office was very close to my house, and one goes to an internist not for highly specialized care, but routine things; so, regrettably (as we now feel), we were not so selective. During these many years, it was virtually impossible to get an appointment with Dr. Perkari herself unless it was two to three months in advance- we had to mostly do with a junior, “floating” physician who was her employee; there was such a high turnover rate for these “floating” physician employees that we never got to see the same physician on repeat visits. Slowly, over the years, it came across that Dr. Perkari was one of those physicians who think that all their patients are idiots and must be treated accordingly. Frequently, her disdain, contempt and irritation were brazenly apparent in office visits or on the rare occasions when we saw her during a hospital stays; a bad bedside… manner, to put it mildly. And I am a businessman who owns several technology companies, each with a multi-million dollar turnover, and also happen to be highly educated, so I was not used to such treatment. I certainly don’t get it from the specialist doctors I see, who are very respectful and have excellent bedside manner. When one senior family member, whom I loved very much, passed away, I was incredulous when Dr. Perkari said to me, in a rare visit when I was able to see her in person, “you must be relieved”! Other, surprising things to slowly come across, at least in my perception (and I could be wrong), were that Dr. Perkari appeared to have disdain for African-Americans, and that she felt her country of origin, India, was better off under British rule. I finally changed my primary care physician.

I wish I could give Dr. Prekari, more than five star. She, is by far, the best internist, I've ever been to. Not only, a wonderful doctor, there are no words to express how compassionate she is.

Dr Perkari is a caring, compassionate doctor. She may have a wait in the office, however; she spends as much time with me that she does with the person before me. She takes the time to get to know me as a person not just a patient or a paycheck. I was recently diagnosis with cancer and she sat down to explain what my options were and what my next step would be. I feel as though she was supportive and this helped me get through this horrible time. I would highly reccommend her and her np. Her staff have also been very helpful too!

While it is sometimes hard to get an appointment and sometimes the wait time is long, Dr Perkari spends quality time with me. She answers my questions and listens well. She makes it possible for me to make informed decisions regarding tests and treatment options. On occasions when I have had hospital visits, she has been fully aware of my medical history and my preferences for treatment. I consider her an ideal choice for primary care physician.
