Dr. Virgil Anthony Davila, MD

A man who makes hundreds of thousands of dollars to look inside of women's vaginas needs to meet a higher standard. Like one in five women, I have an abuse history/ I was abused by my pediatrician regularly. Last year, I went to see Dr. Davila. I told my high risk nurse that I didn't really want to see a male gynecologist--but there are only three urogynecologists in the area, and she said that his patients loved him. Plus, one of the other three was prescribing medically questionable treatments. Since then, I'm seeing the other one, and she has given me a larger range of options than Dr. Davila offered. So I went to see Dr. D--he had all of these pictures of babies he'd birthed all over the office, and I started getting triggered. You can see though why some people think he's the bees knees. He's a cute doctor who has all these smiling photos of himself with babies--and he comes across as making a big deal about the babies. Of course, plenty of people will eat that up. I… was not eating it up. I was eating my trauma. I explained that I had post-traumatic stress from medical abuse and that I was feeling triggered. I asked if we had to do the pelvic exam. Usually, when I tell that to medical professionals, they express horror and empathy. It's quite comforting, and we are able to move forward. Instead, he smirked and went on about how he was a professional, blah, blah, blah. It really annoyed me that he made it about him. I tried to explain to him that PTS is a biological reaction to familiar settings and that it's nothing to do with him. He said that he could accept my past gyno's exam. But then he went on to contradict my neurologist who had just diagnosed me the day before with dysautonomia. He was contradicting her on in her area of expertise not his. I was about one pound over my healthy weight range at that time, and none of my other many health care providers had listed that on my charts--I have since lost it. Later, I saw that he prominently wrote, "Overweight," on my chart. It reminded me of the men who sexually assault women and then defend themselves by saying, "I'm not attracted to you." It's like he got all defensive as though my PTS was somehow an accusation towards him, and he was denying it by saying he wasn't attracted to my fat self. Hello, dude, I explained that my PTS is not about you--and sexual abuse is not about attraction--it's about power--and can be medical. I never went to him again. My new doctor is offering me pelvic floor therapy instead of drugs, which is what I wanted anyway. And seriously, if you are a dude who makes hundreds of thousands of dollars to look inside women's vaginas, you need to be more sensitive than that and more understanding of trauma. If we accept conservative estimates, one in four of the women who come to see you will have experienced sexual abuse and may have trauma.

Once again after this being my second appointment while pregnant at this office I have waited more than 2 hours from the time of check in the be seen one occasion the appointment took a total of 3 hours 15 minutes... my last appointment the midwife was out for pregnancy leave another was filling in all of my labs were not ordered and we waited 2+ hours! Called today to see what happened was told come pick up my lab work and I’ll have to take more time off to do that and to schedule an appointment at the lab facility when I should have had that order when I left my original appointment! The staff that answers the phone was rude and did not care that they waste their paying customers time. The only reason I haven’t switched yet is because I need to find a doctor that delivers at the Winnie Palmer hospital in this area and as soon as I find one I plan to switch. The doctor is amazing but the staff is horrible, the wait is horrible, and it’s not worth your time for the care you receive.

He's caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, and overall a great doctor. Highly recommend him.

Desde que lo conocí hacen ya 22 años Con un embarazo estopico a punto d perder mi vida me brindó sus conocimiento y me salvó mi vida e seguido con el porque a cuidado d mis otros tres embrazo lo cual mi último embarazo de twins y prematuras una d las niñas en posición y la otra no el me prometió acomodarla para que saliera parto normal y lo hizo hoy en día disfruto d mis hijas gracias al cuidado d el cómo médico y ser humano y se lo recomiendo a cualquiera que esté buscando un buen ginecológico ya que es un médico que sabe tratar bien a sus pacientes y no las lastima en su chequeo Dios lo bendiga hoy mañana y siempre y ojalá que todo los médicos amén cuiden así con tanto amor a sus pacientes y sus embarazos lo amamos Dr Davila Mayra Corchado y Familia

Even I first went to see dr.davila he was great! But since I had my surgery and have been back for 2 follow up appts I have been rushed out both times. No questions or concerns answered either time. Was only told at my last appt I could start doing a little bit. What does that mean? A little bit. I will see you in 3 months. Had to go to my pcp for answers on my concerns. Not cool. I have never been through a surgery before now at the age of 45 so I don't know what to expect. Very dissatisfied on the way appts changed from the beginning because I did have a great experience in the beginning and it has gone down hill from there. So disappointed!

This was my first visit with Dr. Davila. I am a nurse for Orlando Health and needed a specialist for a condition that I am having and I must say that he is so very, very kind, compassionate, caring, and he explains things to you fully! The coolest thing is that he looks you straight in the eye when he is talking to you and asks if you have any questions for him. Word of mouth is so very important I wanted to make sure I wrote an excellent review. He surely deserves one!

I have been with Dr Davila for over 11 years and he is amazing!! I have had the experience of being taken back immediately and I have also had to wait (I have waited longer at my kids pediatrician). In my experience with Dr's there is almost always a chance of having to wait. You never know if there is an emergency going on in the back. But usually the girls communicate if he is running behind or if there is an emergency....not all dr's offices do this. Dr Davila, is very compassionate, caring and will always take the time to answer my questions, if I have any. I have learned that I need to make a list prior to going to see Dr D because sometimes we get into these GREAT conversations and I forget the reason why I am there in the first place, LOL! His bed side manner is phenomenal, he has never made me feel uncomfortable. He is very polite and courteous! While waiting in the waiting room and getting to know the other pts throughout the years, I have heard that many women travel… from all over the US, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico for their yearly checkup.....that speaks volume of what type of Dr he is......AMAZING!!!
