Dr. Agnihotri is board certified in both Adult Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He completed his general psychiatry residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and served as the Chief Resident in his last year of residency. He continued his training by obtaining a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at Yale University. At Yale, he trained under pioneers in the field of addiction research and medicine. Dr. Agnihotri was involved in the breakthrough treatment for opiate dependence with Suboxone©/ buprenorphine treatment by the design and introduction of Suboxone clinics at Yale University affiliated hospitals. Dr. Agnihotri has extensive experience in private practice, community mental health clinics, and government and private hospitals. Dr. Agnihotri maintains academic interests and enjoys teaching medical students and residents in the field. He has held faculty appointments as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine and currently holds a faculty appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at St. Louis University School of Medicine. He specializes in the treatment of a wide spectrum of psychiatric illnesses including: Opiate Dependence, including heroin and opiate pain medications Alcohol Dependence Nicotine Dependence Other illicit drug abuse issues Anxiety Disorders – including Generalized Anxiety, Panic, Social Anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Depression Bipolar Disorder (manic-depression) Sleep Disorders Adult ADHD Psychotic Disorders Eating Disorders We provide compassionate care and individualized attention in our comprehensive psychiatric evaluations. Through medication management, behavior and response monitoring, and the integration of certain individual or group psychotherapeutic treatments, we strive to provide holistic solutions for our patients. We also provide emergency and weekend calls to pharmacies, timely report-writing and prompt coordination of treatments with your other health services providers. For Opioid Dependence, treatment with Suboxone/buprenorphine is offered, and the induction may be conducted in the office setting. Certain medications can be dispensed on site for your convenience and privacy. Certain injection medications can be safely administered on-site, as well. Group therapy is available for certain individuals, as appropriate. Currently, groups are forming for: "Social Skills" (for those on the Autism Spectrum) "Managing ADHD" (covering time management, organizational skills, social skills and low-frustration tolerance) "In Control" (for those with anger management issues from life stress or psychiatric illness) "Talk about Change" (relapse prevention and motivational enhancement for those with substance abuse issues) Our Office: Our offices offer a safe, confidential environment with a private waiting area and available separate exit door for your convenience. Sound-proofing provides a quiet and confidential setting. Information from your treatment and medical history is kept confidential and will only be shared with other treating providers and certain third parties if we feel it is useful to your treatment with your consent. Appointments: We are able to schedule appointments with minimal wait time. We only schedule one patient per appointment time and will schedule as much time as needed for any particular patient. Patients are seen on time. Typically, initial evaluation appointments last 60 - 90 minutes and follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. If psychotherapy is recommended, appointments may last between 45 - 60 minutes.
