Dr. Vivek Pratap Kushwaha, MD

Dr.Kushwasha is an excellent surgeon, Dr Kushwasha has been my Back surgeon since 2010. I’ve had multiple problems in my neck and back . He was done 6 surgeries and another one scheduled in the near future. When ever my insurance changes I make sure he is still a Dr that can treat me. He is the only one I trust . Thanks Dr. Kushwasha you have earned my respect!

I had 2 surgeries performed by Dr. Kushwaha. The 1st was a sacroilliac joint fusion. I did nothing to help my pain issue. The 2nd surgery was an ALIF (fusion of L5/S1 with a disk replacement). I was finally able to stop taking some meds, but immediately after waking up, I had foot drop. I did not have this issue prior to surgery. Because of the foot drop, they did another MRI. This time, the found the real cause of all of my excruciating pain, which was a spinal tumor. I went to a neurosurgeon to have the tumor removed. His opinion is that the foot drop was caused by a stretching of a nerve (neuropraxia) that happened during the 2nd surgery. It was also noted that the pin used during my 1st surgery was not flush with the hip bone. Some of my chronic hip pain might be caused by the muscle rubbing over the protruding pin. The disk spacer that was used for the 2nd surgery is much larger than the other disks and that might be what cause the nerve stretch and the ensuing foot… drop. Also during the 2nd surgery, a screw placed in the facet joint was not placed properly and missed 1 of the 2 bones it should have gone thru. It might have been pressing on a nerve because of the misplacement. In the MRI that I had done just before my second surgery, the radiologist noticed something unusual, and made a note in his report. Dr. Kushwaha glossed over that. He should have done more to try to find out what the issue was. If he had done that, he would have discovered my tumor before the 2nd surgery and the foot drop.

This so called doctor is very rude and self centered and his PA John is a drunk. You need to get suspious when you can for an appointment and were able to get in the day. I had back fusion and when the dr came in after surgery, he ask me if I can move my toes--they didn't move--he turned around and left the room. He apparently knew at that point that he had damaged my nerves. After several after surgery visits (and I'm in severe pain)--I ask him if this is going to get better-he said probably not and walked out the room. Now I have drop foot on both feet and severe neuropathy on both legs and have to wear leg braces all the time. One Sunday after surgery I was in severe pain and call the answering service to get some relief. After 3 calls to the service, the PA (John) finally called me. I told him about my pain and he was obviously drunk and told me to go to ER. I never went back to this so called doctor!

Dr Kushwaha was very professional, unfortunately his office staff are inconsiderate liars. I was scheduled for surgery yesterday and waited two hours for the surgery center to open because they "had no surgeries scheduled for this morning"...turns out that Dr Kushwaha's assistant cancelled the surgery last week without bothering to inform me, and I can't get a straight answer from them. They said it's the surgery center, the surgery center showed me the hand-written message that was faxed to them from Dr Kushwaha's office. Patient beware!!

Very upset with this doctor! I had cervical surgery for no reason. Took out a perfectly good disc for no reason. It wasn’t my cervical spine causing the problem, it was my rib (Costochondritis/Tietze syndrome). But because this doctor never examined me, never touched me until the day of the surgery, he wouldn’t have known. He did not do his due diligence, just got knife happy. I got worse after my surgery. Now I have to deal with this metal in my neck ( and who knows what the long term implications are). Take it from me, you should never let a doctor perform surgery on you unless they do physical exam prior - just to confirm/ensure that what they are treating is indeed correct. On top of it, he has the worse attitude ever. I would not recommend him.

He is the only doctor I trust to work on my spine. I am foregoing Obamacare to find an insurance that he and MHOSH accept. I would rather wait than have anyone else work on me. He is empathetic and has the best bedside manner as does his staff.

Experienced surgeon but very little time spent educating about diagnosis, symptoms, recovery, etc. The office staff in aftercare following surgery failed to call in prescriptions after stating they had, stated they faxed in my FMLA paperwork but had not, called in wrong dosage of medication and general feeling put off that once the surgery was completed that aftercare was a necessary nuisance. For example, I had asked regarding possible side effects for a prescription and I was told that I would need to ask my pharmacist. I believe that there are doctors out there who have similar experience AND demonstrate care for the patient outside of surgery. I don't think it's an either/or situation. He was able to get me in with short notice, scheduled surgery without delay and provided accurate diagnosis. 4 mos out and still no pain. Just typical side effects that are slowly deminishing.

Dr kushwaha did back surgery on me multiple levels 5 weeks ago I am pleased to say that I am a hundred percent better than what I used to be with the work that he did he has taken the pain completely away that was being caused from a back injury I am very satisfied with the work that he did would recommend him to anyone

Dr Kushwaha is an outstanding doctor. He has repaired my back and neck without so much as an issue afterwards. His office staff is more than helpful. I'd recommend him to anyone having back or neck issues. He is truly wonderful!!!!!!!

SO FAR ITS ONLY BEEN 5WKS POST OP, AND IM HAVING IMPROVEMENTS ALREADY.MY MIND IS EVEN MORE COMFORT WHAT I BEEN THROUGH THAT THE PAIN HAS CEASED AND THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO STAND MAYBE LONGER AND WALK.GOD IS GOOD AND DR KUSHWAHA WAS HEAVEN SENT.THANK YOU. AND STAFF
