Dr. Wayne Douglas Siegel, MD

I have had this doctor for many years, He has been top-notch.

There are bad doctors, “meh” doctors, good doctors and then there is Dr. Wayne Siegel, who should be in a category of that rare almost extinct “patient and knowledgeable” type. He has been treating my parents for their GI issues for close to 20 years now and, since my parents don’t speak English, I have been present at all appointments (maybe 15-20 appointments over years). Since I had to translate, our visits would already take longer but Dr. Siegel never rushed us and always answered all the questions in a friendly manner. Many doctors either don’t have the patience to explain things or assume their patients are daft and won’t be able to grasp simple medical terms but not Dr. Siegel with his impeccable bedside manner. Lately, I came to realize just how much Dr. Siegel cares about an accurate diagnosis and the LONG TERM wellbeing of his patients and not just about quickly dispensing a pill. Recently, my dad’s gone to see Dr. Siegel about some stomach gas pain, bloating and… constipation. He just wanted a script for very strong laxatives but, after a physical exam, Dr. Siegel refused to write a script and felt it was necessary for my dad to go to an emergency room instead. At first, we were frustrated – I mean who wants to sit 5 hours in ER wait room over some constipation, right? However, Dr. Siegel has never given us a wrong diagnosis or suggestion in 20 years so we reluctantly obliged. Turned out my dad had a serious colon blockage that could have led to a colon rupture (especially if mindlessly treated with laxatives!) so he was admitted on the spot. 2 days later and after a host of procedures (details of which I will omit not to ruin your dinner), my dad got a clean bill of health and was discharged. In hindsight, thank God, my dad went to an ER. He could have died if he had not. Btw, my parents’ insurance pays doctors less than most other insurance plans but we never felt that it made a difference in how Dr. Siegel treated my parents while, unfortunately, there are many doctors who won’t give time of the day to patients with cheap insurance.

I have never met a doctor who seem he had no interest in helping a patient but forced to since he was is a doctor. He made me feel so little as when he couldn’t help me understand my diagnosis with very sarcastic remarks like I was so below him as a human being.

Dr. Siegel was great about addressing all questions and concerns. Very straightforward, informative, and thorough with his explanations. The staff was friendly and helpful. Excellent experience overall.

I had a consultation appointment with Dr. Siegel. Very professional and caring. He gave me an appointment for a colonoscopy asap. Didnt have to wait long. The day of the procedure, everything went smooth. He was very detailed and on point. The facility was very clean and professional and so was his staff. I recommend Dr. Siegel to anyone looking for a great Gastroenterologist.

I have used him for years. Had a pain in side and he disgonsed it as simple worry and eating habits. After not believing that was the problem and going thur multiple scans and test found he was correct. It was as simple as eating correctly and finding the correct probiotics. He is the man. A true Hudson County Doctor that tells it straight whether you like it or not.

I left his office and made an appointment with another G.I. Dr! He is condensending. Sarcastic and arrogant. No thank you. He may be a good dr., But has no people skills. He said I had to lose weight, but he is blinded by his own gut. Figure that one out.. More fish in the sea. Happy with my new dr.

Excellent bedside manor

From the waiting room to the examination room the visit was pleasant & professional. The office staff were friendly and efficient & I was led to the examination room precisely at the designated time of my appointment. Imagine that. Dr. Siegel was patient & professional as he reviewed my past history, assessed the current situation & explained my options in a manner & language that I could understand. My health & well being were his priorities. I would highly recommend him to family & friends.
