Dr. Mayer completed medical school in 1987 from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and completed his internship and residency in 1992 at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. He was certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1993. From 1992 to 1996, Dr. Mayer was a staff surgeon and chief surgeon with the rank of Major in the United States Air Force at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. Following his duty in the Air Force, Dr. Mayer was in private practice in Van Wert, Ohio, serving as chief surgeon at Van Wert County Hospital, and as clinical assistant professor of surgery at the Medical College of Ohio.
Dr. Mayer’s practice encompasses the entire spectrum of general surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Travis County Medical Society, a member of several hospital committees including the Medical Executive Committee at St. David’s Medical Center.
