Dr. William Ross Dobkin, MD

DOCTOR DOBKINS IS THE REASON I AM ABLE TO WALK. He did the awesome spine surgery that meant I was essentially pain free and able to walk and live a reasonable normal life. IT WAS A TERRIBLE SHOCK WHEN WE LEARNED TODAY THAT DR DOBKIN HAD RETIRED A MONTH AGO. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THERE ARE ANY OTHER NEUROSURGEONS WITH HIS SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND COMPASSION IN THIS AREA AT THIS TIME??

In 1986, Dr. Dobkin saved my life. I had previously had periodontal surgery and a constant pain was felt in the left upper part of my mouth, yet doctors and dentists found no reason for this pain. Was rushed to EM after losing consciousness and a test showed a mass in my brain. Admitted to hospital; Dr. Dobkin my doctor. Most of my family flew in from Texas and one night I was close to being in a coma and luckily Dr. Dobkin was at the hospital. He along with another neurosurgeon performed emergency surgery and discover the abscess. Another brain operation was necessary within a week. I spent almost 3 mos. in hospital under the close supervision of Dr. Dobkin. I believe I would not be here to celebrate 80 years on this earth if not for Dr. Dobkin and The Man Upstairs. My late husband Bill and I were able to spent almost 30 yrs. traveling to all 50 states and visiting many foreign countries. Thanks is not even to say to this Doctor.

Did a very aggressive surgery on me, which made me much worse. I would not recommend anyone to have surgery by Dr. Dobkin. I screamed for 2 days after my surgery he performed......something went horribly wrong! Then I went for a second opinion with Dr. Dennis and after his staff wouldn’t give me an appointment with Dr. Dobkin, they said call Dr.Dennis and told me I had no loyalty. Would never go back too see him again nor recommend him.

What more can I say about Dr Dobkin except that 5 years ago, staph had been accidentally inserted into my spine (by a pain specialist) while undergoing a trial of a Neurostimulator for horrific & chronic back pain. Dr Dobkin came in at night after I was admitted thru the E.R. & thankfully debrided the staph from my spine b4 it had the chance to hit my brain stem. He is AMAZING!! I lived to see my 2 Grandsons from our oldest son & his wife be born & I lived to attend our youngest son’s wedding & hopefully will be around to see hie & his wife’s children be born when they’re ready for that. Thank you Dr. Dobkin for being the angel on my shoulder that awful night.

Had L5 fusion in 2008. Since then no pain no problems after surgery. Dr Dobkin was fantastic.

Dr. Dobkin is an excellent compassionate surgeon who I attribute to giving me my mobility and alleviating the debilitating pain I had endured for over 6 months prior to having surgery. After performing my surgery Hoag, Dr.Dobkin made it a point to stop by daily to check on me. I have had numerous other surgeries and never has a surgeon showed that much attention post op. My family was also pleased with his response questions and being kept informed of my condition and recovery. I gladly recommend him. Thank you again

Ever since Dr. Dobkin performed a lumbar fusion on me I have been in horrible pain. I woke up from my first surgery screaming in pain. I continued screaming for 2 days until the nurses and pain management at Hoag were able to help me with adequate pain meds. Sadly I left the hospital on a fentanyl patch, and continued on the fentanyl patch at50 mcg for the next 6 months until Dr. Dobkin figured out my hardware was loose. I had a revision surgery anterior and posterior fusion with hardware. (they went thru the front of my abdomen and placed hardware on one side, them thru my back and placed hardware on the backside of my spine) this time I left the hospital on the 75 mcg fentanyl patch. I don't know what happened, except that my pain is 900% worse after Dr.Dobkin performed surgery on me.

Dr. Dobkin is a great doctor. He does however need to manage his staff. The woman at the front desk by the name of Terry is extremely rude. Be very careful with her as she is a ticking time bomb. She accused and yelled at my wife in the waiting room in front of everyone right after her surgery. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

He is a wonderful caring Dr. I would recommend him to anyone. He saved my life.
