Dr. Yi Zhang, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Zhang in 2017. When I arrived on z Feb 8, 2017 he had been assigned to my case. An Emergency Dr. from Boystown discovered my Aneurysm and sent me Methodist immediately. I was taken care of by some most loving and caring and understanding group of nurses and attendant's. They made me feel safe and calm. The Dr.who did my spinal tsp was genital and kind. The nurse held my hand. I had to pain pre-post and post testing during my procedure. My experience was amazing. The excellent care was top notched. Dr. Zhang was kind and reassuring. He spoke to my family and was patient in explaining the procedure to them and to me. He explained that there were to options which was an evasive and in evasive choice. I opt in inervasive procedure. I went in within hours I was out and recovering with no pain. I would recommend Dr.Zhang to anyone. Dr Zhang Saved my life. Being misdiagnosed with the perception of a blood clot within the left sinus cavity of my brain, and discharged with anti coagulants, which were meant to get things flowing again; to make a long story short, I was re admitted for further diagnosis and vp shunt placement. Prior to that procedure however, Dr Zhang' explained that he performs angiograms on all of his patients prior to that particular procedure. Upon doing so, he discovered, not a blood clot, but rather a fistula, that left unattended I would have caused me to hemorrhage. Instead he was able to make the repair with a bio glue substance during a follow up angiogram, placed the vp shunt, and returned to my every day life with out restrictions of any sort! Greatest doc ever!

I would like to Thank God Almighty for Dr. Zhang. Because of him my motherlaw is alive today! He explained everything and was very concerned about my mothers care and well- being! I remember him telling my mother how lucky she was to be alive. In my heart I was thinking how lucky she was to have a doctor like himself. It was at no time he left me unsure! He made no promises but he delivered Great results! Thank God for Good Doctors!!! I Thank God for You because I have more time with my mother??????. Thank You

Dr Zhang oversaw my husbands care after suffering subarachnoid hemorrhage. I brought my husband for 2nd opinion after another hospital debated doing angiogram to stop his blood vessels from clamping down. Dr Zhang had to go in several times to treat 4 different blood vessels in his brain to stop the spasms, which ultimately saved his life. This man is a brilliant Neurosurgeon. He spends 8-10 hours in the operating room every day saving lives. If you’re looking for traditional doctor office get a neurologist for your follow up. However he will see you in the office if you need him, just make an appointment. His staff literally works on patients in dire circumstances and aftercare strategies. They are caring and amazing for such a small team. I thank God for Dr Zhang and his staff and pray he is blessed for years to come with his surgical talent to save more lives. The conditions he treats are high risk for being fatal. I really don’t know how he does it but he is level headed, smart and… great at treating this often fatal subarachnoid hemorrhage/brain aneurysm. The ICU nurses will tell you at Methodist he is the best for this condition.

My daughter had to see Dr. Zhang due to us finding out that she had a brain aneurysm. We found out 1 day and the same day she was admitted to hospital. Dr. Zhang was more interested in research than my child and that was disheartening. I believe God allows things for a reason and I believe Dr. Zhang has served his purpose in our lives but it's now time to move on. We have contacted his office on several occasions due to complications my daughter has had and as of this date we have not received one phone call from them. It's not as if we left messages and they weren't received we spoke directly to office staff. It's been almost 2 months and nothing. In addition, when my daughter was released from the hospital she was released without much needed medication that we found out later she was supposed to have. This happened 2 times. I don't understand what's happening but I'm trusting God to lead us elsewhere. Just want others to be informed; however, I know one bad experience for one… individual doesn't mean bad experiences for all.

Racist Doctor. Incompetent doctor.

VP shunt surgery was performed on my daughter and we can never get an appointment for a follow up. His office states she needs a new CT scan of the head but they won't order it, they say get here primary care DR. to order it. Primary care won't order it because they don't need it for their treatment. I am finding another neurosurgeon for her continued care.
