Dr. Jon Fredrick Graham, MD

My daughter was in a serious car accident and was referred to Dr. Graham (Altus Medical Group) as their office works exclusively with this scenario (they do not even accept ANY health insurance companies). Although he's been very nice, the office schedules multiple appointments for things that could be treated in one so that they can get more money from auto insurance company; therefore it takes months to complete treatment. Other doctors have communicated to us that that is precisely what's going on; that they see no valid medical reason for the delays. In speaking directly with Dr. Graham (on speaker so I could hear as well), she explained that her job is in jeopardy if she can't get back to it soon (the accident was 5 months ago). Dr. Graham assured us that he could make that timeline work by dealing with both sides of her back at once, but when we went to the appointment for the procedure, we were told that he must have "miscommunicated", that the DOCTOR got it wrong and it would… take at least 2-3 more appointments. She's now very likely to lose her nursing job and be forced to give up her apartment, move back home and stay on the narcotic pain medication she despises for months longer. Please ask questions so that things are not 'miscommunicated' to you and find someone who cares more about their patients suffering than bilking insurance for more money.

Due to a car accident on maui 7 yrs ago, I had been dealing with neck pain and I finally found Dr Graham. Of course, surgery is a scary thing and I was mortified. But he has such a calming way about him, and with his knowledge.... I felt very confident in his talent. He performed a double ACDF and only 5 weeks out, I can still say, it was better than going to the dentist and having my wisdom teeth pulled. Great staff too. They go above and beyond. Having to travel to Oahu from maui each time can be stressful. But they help in anyway they can. Thank you Dr Graham and staff. Couldn’t ask for anyone better

Dr. Graham performed 2 lower back surgeries and 1 upper cervical surgery on me, relieved all my pain and got me walking standing straight and my neck flexible. Mind you I’m not ?? % but far better condition then before. Thank you Dr. Graham and your awesome staff Cheryl for their hard work. Lee G.

He did my hubby neck and back surgery and hubby back playing golf and back work running our company. Dr also did my neck surgery and I feel great . I would never change doctor ~~ Kona family!

10 years after my first cervical spine surgery, I began having excruiating neck pain which worsened over a 6 year period, and the treatments the doctors prescribed weren't helping.. Then I was referred to Dr. Graham, who diagnosed cervial myleopathy caused by OPLL. We tried a surgical approach, but the graft failed, my symptoms were worsening, and he suggested a corpectomy with fibular strut graft . I asked a lot of questions, he encouraged me to ask more, gave me direct answers, and the surgery proceeded.. Successfully. I read an interview where he said this surgery was one of the most difficult for him ...but he got me through it with great skill. ove a 8-10 hour procedure. My recovery was not without difficulties, but nothing that he had not prepared me for..including the halo. And the results ... I could walk more normally without stumbing, the severe pain was gone, my spasticity lessened, my incontinence disappeared. I was 41 when I first met him, single independant women,… terribly afraid...I am now 64 and still going strong, independent and active, enjoying life. Because of this incredily compassionate wonderful surgeon. Some day, I hope to tell him personally that I am well, that his graft is still in place, and I that owe the last 19 years to his skill.

He may be a good doctor I do not know. I could never get past his office staff .I never got to meet him which is too bad as he came highly recommended. They took 6 weeks to return my phone calls.Were not concerned in the least and the whole attitude there put me off that office. By the time they finally decided to call me back I had already seen another doctor , had a diagnosis and surgery scheduled. If you are in pain and need to see a doctor look somewere else. Sorry Doc . You may be good I did not get past your god like office staff.

Get a second opinion. this guy cuts on every patient! he works hand in hand with an orthopedic surgeon - get another opinion from a neurosurgeon!!!!

Dr. Jon Graham performed surgery on me twice. He works with Dr. Morris Mitsunaga, an Orthopedic Surgeon when applying the Extreme Lateral Inter-body Fusion (XLIF)method for Lumbar surgery. I have completely recovered from the surgery and will forever be grateful for his contribution to my total recovery. He is totally focused on his work; is meticulous in his diagnoses; has wonderful bedside manners and is a pleasure to be around. We love him!
