Dr. Evin Lake Guilliams, DO

I saw Dr. Guilliams back in July of 2025. He was very attentive, caring, professional, knowledgeable about my condition and answered all of our questions to our satisfaction. I required an L3-L5 laminectomy, which was scheduled in August of 2025. He explained the procedure very well, told us what we could expect, and what we could not expect. His nurses kept my family informed during the surgery, which relieved their fears. After the surgery, he visited me in the recovery room and told me how the procedure went, what all was done and how big my scar would be. My entire family just loved him, and so did I. I recovered from my surgery without complications. I went back for followup visits. I have been walking a mile a day without any complications. I was scheduled for a followup visit in August, but have recently found out that he has left KDMC. I am just devastated that he has left and so is my family. I would rate him a 10 if I could. I sort of felt like he was a son and I was his… mother. I love him!!

If it were possible to give less than one star, I would. Dr. Evin Guilliams contacted me by phone to discuss my husband’s medical care and test results. During the conversation, he repeatedly contradicted himself, initially stating that my husband was fine, then later indicating that something abnormal was found and that additional testing was needed. He asked inappropriate and unfounded questions, including whether my husband was an IV drug user, while also making conflicting statements about whether my husband was experiencing pain. At one point, he stated that there was something in the test results that could be causing pain, despite earlier dismissing it. Throughout the call, Dr. Guilliams was dismissive, frequently interrupted me, and spoke in a condescending manner, as though he were addressing a small child rather than an adult advocate seeking information. This made it difficult to ask questions or receive clear, respectful explanations. My husband never requested pain… medication at any time; our sole goal was to understand the source of his pain and determine appropriate next steps for treatment. Additionally, he expressed frustration about dealing with workers’ compensation cases, which felt inappropriate and unprofessional in the context of a patient discussion. By the end of the conversation, I felt compelled to speak over him simply to be heard. I ultimately expressed concern about his bedside manner and suggested that additional professional development or communication training may be beneficial for him. Overall, the experience was disrespectful, confusing, and deeply disappointing. Based on this experience, I do not recommend Dr. Evin Guilliams.

This RESIDENT yes he is a resident has absolutely NO BEDSIDE MANOR!!! My husband was asking all kinds of questions about the MRI for our daughter that was ordered and SUPPOSED to be read prior to our appt. This resident told my husband that he had been on "GOOGLE" too much because my husband was knowledgeable and knew what questions to ask!! This resident did not have proper answers for us and just kept acting like he knew what he was talking about!! We are definitely getting a second opinion! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY WITH THIS GUY!!!
