Ying Hitchcock, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Utah and an investigator and physician at Huntsman Cancer Institute. She specializes in head, neck, skin cancers, and sarcomas. She treats all forms of cancer in her practice.

Hitchcock has served as the department's residency program director since 2003. In this capacity, she has received the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award twice, from the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology (ARRO) for the 2006-2007 and 2008-2009 academic years.

Hitchcock received a medical degree from the Peking Union Medical College Graduate School in Beijing, China, where she specialized in head and neck surgery. She completed an internship in general surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo Graduate Medical-Dental Education Consortium and a residency in radiation oncology at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, also in Buffalo.

Doctor Hitchock is from a different country and sometimes is hard to understand. This may be taken as a bad bedside manner. I take it as being very blunt. Which , is fine with me, I'd rather have someone beat around the bush. Her staff is wonderful and helpful. Culture where she is from is so very differnt than the U.S.A. Please take that into account before making your final opinion. Thanks

I'm not sure why the other reviews stated Dr Hitchcock did not have a good bedside manner. I had read those reviews prior to our first appointment and did not agree then. We are now in our 5th week of daily radiation and still completely disagree. Dr Hitchcock meets with us each week and couldn't be more accomodating and caring. She takes time to answer our questions and helps us understand what is going on with the treatments. Her office staff is wonderful as well. My husband and I are so thankful to have such a great Doctor.

This person is not a doctor. She is one of the most arrogant, rude, single minded people I have ever met. Has no feelings for people and will not give me the information I ask for. She has no right to have the title of Doctor in front of her name. The word DO NOT HARM have never crossed her mind. She does more harm than good. Can't get answers to questions and will be reporting her for her actions. I know less now than I did before I went to her. No bedside manner and is extremely ignorant to people. Do not go see this person if you valve your life.

No bedside manner at all! The staff was more helpful than the Dr. She is very narrow-minded and doesn't believe in any alternative therapies. Will not even consider anything other than radiation/ chemo for her patients but would not even consider it for herself :/ Will never go back to her again

Dr. Hitchcock's peers speak very highly of her and her results are far above the national average. Although her bedside manner leaves much to be desired, we were grateful to have her as part of my husband's oncology team. We got the 'caring' portion from the rest of the team.
