Sandra DeAtley, LCSW
Hello! My name is Sandra DeAtley (I go by Sandy) and I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Missouri. I have seven years of experience working with individuals and groups in both the private and non-profit sectors and have had clients from all walks of life. I have spent time working in nonprofit organizations working with people experiencing poverty and homelessness, and I have worked in the private sector with people who are presenting with many different mental health difficulties and challenging problems in their lives. I worked in a homeless drop-in center serving meals and providing basic needs like clothing and hygiene supplies. I have worked in emergency services helping provide assistance with things like utilities, rent, emergency medical and dental expenses, and helping to obtain identification documents. I have done case management to ensure that clients have the necessary resources they need and I also worked in an acute psychiatric hospital with patients experiencing severe mental illness, developmental disabilities, depression, anxiety, and the challenges that come with aging. What I have learned from working with this wide variety of very unique individuals is that even though we are all very different in a lot of ways most people want basically the same thing; we want to be happy. People want to be able to work through the struggles they are facing in a place where they feel safe and where they feel that they are being heard and that is what I do my best to provide to the people that I work with. To provide safety, a place to be heard, and an ally to help sort through the challenges and find the necessary skills to overcome the difficulties that stand in the way of being happy. The best interests of my clients are always my first priority. Being happy does not mean the same thing to every person but it is a universal desire. Everyone deserves to be happy. And so do you.
