Dr. Aaron Todd Heaton, PhD

Dr. Heaton is probably a very smart clinician but unfortunately I didn’t find him reliable. I asked him no less than 4 times for an email of paperwork so I could fill it out for my son so he could learn even basic things about him. He kept telling me the email was “on its way” and “should already be in my inbox”. After not following through over 3 weeks he texted to cancel my son’s 3rd appt a few hours before the scheduled time. Said he “could have been exposed to covid” he said he would test that evening and reschedule. I was tired of actions and words not matching so I ended his services. He is also on probation with the MD board of examiners. After my experience with him I can see why…he would do better as an author or teacher vs. private practice. For the cost I was very unimpressed.

I have been seeing Dr. Heaton for several months now and I have accomplished many of my therapy goals. I was a mess when I first came to him and together progress was made.. He is personable and assists with self discovery. I have had two not so great previous experiences with therapy, but Dr Heaton restored my faith in the process.

I have had experiences with other therapist who I did not find helpful at all. Dr. Heaton is extremely knowledgeable about the science behind brain function and emotions. He can help you understand yourself and others you are in relationships with. He actually teaches coping skills. He is very easy going and personable.

He might be a good therapist but not at all a good business man and I didn't make any headway in the 4 times I saw him. Undependable, cancelled or rescheduled 3 out of 4 appointments due to school snow days or unplanned continued education class. Encourages phone calls but then doesn't get back for 2 to 3 days later you receive a random call without an apology. I failed to see the "Rock Star" therapist he claimed to be. His office is nicely decorated.
