Dr. Aaron Miller, MD

He missed new activity on my MRI’s, and made me continue on a medication that wasn’t working for months after i asked to switch. He made me believe that my new symptoms were nothing to be concerned about, and then it became a full blown relapse that stole my mobility. I made a mistake staying with Dr. Aaron Miller, when i had my doubts for years. When my relapse began, he completely failed me. And now I can barely walk because of it. He is an old, entitled man who is making decisions for people who should be allowed to make decisions for themselves. This doctor is not interested in patient care. He’s only interested in furthering his research.

He’s an old, arrogant man who is making decisions for people who should be allowed to make decisions for themselves. This doctor is not interested in patient care. He’s only interested in furthering his research.

Has been my doctor for many years. Throughout many points of my life, (ie. marriage, childrearing the passing of my parent, progression of my MS) his suggestions and advice always had taken my family into consideration. I would never change him.

My husband was patient of Dr. Miller for 5 years. He did not provide any medications for him, just tested his Biotin trial and as a result my husband on wheelchair now. Stay away from this doctor, please!

He forgot that I had an anaphylactic reaction (twice) to copaxone, even though I reported both reactions to him and sought emergency care at Mount Sinai for the second reaction. The first reaction happened before I saw Dr. Miller. The neurologist I saw at the time felt that it would be dangerous to take copaxone again because my blood pressure dropped to 42 diastolic (the bottom number) after one of my injections and I vomited profusely, became hypokalemic (low potassium in bloodstream) and ended up in the ER in need of fluids and potassium. When I first came to see Dr. Miller he convinced me that what I had was an adverse reaction to copaxone and that it was unlikely to recur. He was wrong. The second reaction was less severe, but resulted in lip and tongue swelling and landed me at Mount Sinai’s ER. All of this info was reported to Dr. Miller. During my final visit with him he was extremely irritated that I was not taking medication. He also had NO recollection of my… reactions to copaxone. NONE. I suspect that he never recorded the information initially. If he did record it, then he never took the time to briefly review my chart before entering the room. I reminded him of this history. He got belligerent and nasty after this exchange. His bedside manner is normally cold. He shifted after I called him out on this error. He then proceeded to ask me several random questions (about work and so on). I suspect that his intention was to divert attention away from his error. He was highly defensive. The result was that he stressed/upset me to the point that I briefly cried, at which point he stared coldly at me and asked if I was receiving psychiatric care. I told him that I am, and that detail should also be in my medical record (as I had shared that info with him during previous visits). In short, Dr. Miller has a horrible bedside manner. He is tone-deaf and at times arrogant and belligerent. His arrogance clouded his clinical decision-making in my case. Because of this I sought care elsewhere. As an MS patient, I’ll say that I’ve learned my lesson with doctors who have done well in academic medicine. Their success is spurred along by the system itself , without actual feedback from patients along the way. It seems enticing to see a doctor who’s connected to researchers and a highly-ranked hospital, but I don’t really need the bells and whistles. I have run-of-the-mill relapsing-remitting MS and I need a doctor who can help me choose one of only a handful of medications and monitor closely for side effects and allergic reactions (which are prominent with many biological...see articles on antidrug antibodies). Dr. Miller couldn’t do this. He was bad at listening and tempering his ego. I really expected better from him. Having MS isn’t easy. Fortunately, getting rid of Dr. Miller was incredibly easy. If you read all of this, thank you. I encourage other patients to write reviews as well. This is the only way we can improve this flawed system that sometimes puts the patient last.

I'm not sure about the previous commenters, but I've never waited more than 5 minutes to see Dr. Miller. It does take a long time to get a first visit, i will admit, however in my situation 2 months was the earliest i could get an appointment, but then I had an emergency and they made time and fit me in the next week. After that, you're scheduling follow up appointments so the wait doesn't really matter. I've had 2 doctor's (the one that referred me and a dr in another field relating to my disease) confirm my diagnosis. He is a little weird, so am i, and I've always thought the really smart doctors are always weird. I also found him initially VERY thorough, he pretty much asked me about my entire medical history starting from when I was a child. However, although he has all of the information, he is still just as thorough at every follow up, performing all the essential neurological tests.
