Dr. Achrol and his staff are phenomenal! It’s been almost 5 months since my meningioma surgery and I’m doing great. From my first phone call, Kalina set the tone for the entire experience. She is kind, compassionate, conscientious, efficient, and gave me a sense of peace. In addition to the above, Dr. Achrol is also very experienced and humble. He explained everything very clearly, patiently answered all of my questions, and responded quickly to my e-mails. His nurse practitioner, Sheli, is also fantastic. She kept things light with her sense of humor, but is also super knowledgeable and great at explaining things. I highly recommend Dr. Achrol and his staff because they actually made brain surgery a pleasant experience!

We give our highest recommendation to Dr. Achrol at Providence St. John’s based on both his level of expertise and care. If you are looking for an all-around capable and caring neurosurgeon, I highly recommend you meet with Dr. Achrol for a consultation. Dr. Achrol is my husband’s neurosurgeon who performed brain bypass surgery for his Moyamoya disease (his second surgery is upcoming). We had gone through two other neurosurgeons (including Dr. Steinberg at Stanford) prior to Dr. Achrol, and we are so grateful to have come across him and his team at Providence St. John’s. It really was “providence” that we found them. Dr. Achrol has an amazing team consisting of himself, Shelli (nurse practitioner), and Kalina (clinic and patient care coordinator). The three of them work together as a tight-knit, unified team, making the whole process smooth and convenient for the patient. My husband had everything done for pre-op, including physical exam, lab work, EKG, chest x-ray, and echo all… on one day in the same building. Kalina even escorted us from place to place to make sure we knew where to go and what to do. They are the most patient-centered team I have ever met and are very accessible (ex: Dr. Achrol, the neurosurgeon, replies to emails *himself* within a few short hours). They take the time to really understand and help the best way possible. We really felt “heard” and never felt rushed during the visits. Dr. Achrol trained under Dr. Steinberg for many years and has done over 300 Moyamoya bypass surgeries. I’d love for other Moyamoya patients to find Dr. Achrol so they, too, can receive the amazing level of care my husband has been receiving.
