Dr. Tanya Minasian, DO

When your child suffers a brain and or spinal injury, the hardest part of the process are the unknowns. Dr. Minasian took more time answering all of our questions and educated us on the nature of the injuries and the prognosis. She gave our son a second chance at life. She has the perfect balance of being conservative with treatment if possible but in an emergency she acts immediately and the results we had were seriously miraculous. I can never thank her enough.

A second opinion from a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at one of the best institutes in the country told us that the surgery Dr Minasian was pushing as urgent would have been the wrong decision! My daughter was saved from having her back cut open and metal rods placed because we took the time to question what did not sound correct. Dr. Minasian should receive further education in the evaluation and treatment of pediatric spine injuries. Maybe qualified for brain surgery but NOT orthopedic surgery. I thank God every day that my daughter was spared from an unnecessary surgery. My daughter healed completely within a few months with no surgery and is now participating in the sports she loves pain free!

My 10yr old daughter had a horrible accident and we arrived via Mercy Air. I was so scared of losing my little girl, as she lay helpless on a stretcher. Dr.Minasian walked in with such confidence said we can do this procedure I have looked at her images from the CT. I know that seconds count in certain situations and this was one of them. I trusted her judgment(after all she is the doctor) and just wanted my daughter to be ok. 2 weeks later we have left the hospital and she is recovering well. I am so very thankful that she was the doctor on call when we landed at Children’s Hospital. We are forever grateful.

After Dr. Zouros left they kept changing my sons primary neurologist. I personally loved Dr.Zouros. But this new doctor I’ve never even met. I’m looking to change hospitals because Loma Linda has fallen far below standards with these new doctors they’ve hired. I’m moving my child to the Los Angeles Children’s hospital because of this. I’m disappointed with the staff. I remember 2 years ago it was way different now all they care about us money and taking as long time as possible for a simple checkup to charge up the insurance. My typical doctor visits take up sometimes even up to 3-4 hrs. And it’s all in the waiting room because the actual consultation is less than 15min. Literally all my time goes into waiting to see someone just so that they send me home and tell me it’s all the same no changes. These new doctors don’t care.

If it was possible to give more then 5 stars I would give as many as allowed. Dr. Minasian and her staff are the best. She is the 3rd pediatric neurosurgeon we’ve had contact with and by far is the absolute BEST! She came into the room for our first meeting having read our sons chart, read all the notes from previous surgery and explained her plan in far more detail then anyone had before. We left the first appt knowing far more details about the surgery our son was having then we had ever heard before. Surgery day she was so kind to us and our son and follow up care was just as perfect. Words can not discibe how grateful we are for Dr. Minasian.

Very rushed appointment and not much time for patient education. Quick decisions were made regarding very serious matters without having the time answer our questions. Surgery was pushed as urgent without much explanation as to the evidence behind such a serious decision. We left our appointment feeling unsure and afraid for our child’s well being. When we sought a second opinion by a specialist at a different top institute we found that surgery was not necessary now. Further research revealed that such a surgery could have had serious negative lasting consequences for our child that would have been totally unnecessary at this point in time.

I honestly would never take my daughter to anyone else. She does such amazing work and has great bed side manor with children. My daughter absolutely loves her! She helped changed my daughters life
